Federal Inspection Held for National Na-tional Guard The local 222nd Field Artillery! of the Utah National Guard were federally inspected by Major John McCollister, Inspecting officer, Monday, and were rated as very satisfactory, i ' ; The equipment, personel and sup plies ofi thj guard unit were care fully Inspected by Major McColus-ter. McColus-ter. One hundred per cent of the men and officers of the local unit were In attendance. There are thirty-seven men and five officers. The Inspecting officers compli mented Motor Sergeant Warren Bone on the excellent shape of the guard trucks, finding them in splendid condition. At the Inspection the following officers were in attendance: Gener al W. G. Williams, division commander com-mander of the two regiments In Utah and one in California; Major Lions, Majofc George Latimer, Col onel Carl Bidger, commanding officer offi-cer of the 145th Field Artillery; Col onel Hamilton Gardner, commanding command-ing officer of the 222nd field artillery; artil-lery; Lieutenant Vem Hardy, Major McCollister, !all of Salt Lake City, and Captain Wayns A Gudmund- sen of Ogden. New Faculty Member at High School Miss Phyllis Kirkham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Kirkham, Is a new member of the faculty of the Lehl High School and will be the instructor in charge of the Domestic Domes-tic Art department. Miss Kirkham began her new duties the first of the week. She Is a graduate of the Utah State Agricultural college at Logan and during the past months of this school year has beon teaching In American Fork. Miss Kirkham will be a very capable teacher for this d apartment She fills the vacancy left in the faculty by Miss Dorothy Stewart, who has taught the Domestic Art department In the local high school for the past three years. UTAH Athenian Club Elect New Officers At the meeting of the local Athenian Athen-ian club held last Wednesday at the home of Mrs. A W. Davla new officers were elected to serve during the coming year. Chip- man. ; o Dr.Lowry Nelson Addresses Scouts A successful Boy Scout Court of Honor was held Sunday evening In the First ward chapel, under the direction of the Lehi District Court of Honor, with chairman Bishop Henry Erlckson In charge. Dr. Lowry Nelson of Provo, chair man of the Tlmpanogos Boy Scout Council was the principal speaker. He talked on the scout movement, bringing out some fine thoughts. Musical numbers consisted of a ukeline duet by Mrs. Grace Morgan and Miss Cleo Morgan and a selection selec-tion from the First ward M. I. A girls' chorus. Badges were awarded to the fol lowing scouts: Troop 1 Second class awards-Keith awards-Keith Bushman and Victor Smith. Tenderfoot award Blaine Walker.
