Mr. Francis Child and daughter, Bessie o.f Ogden, visited here on Memorial Day. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rhodes returned home with them for a week's visit. Mr. and Mrs. A L. Goates of Spring- ville, Mr. Stanley Goates of Provo, and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Goates of West Jordan, were Memorial Day dinner guests at the James Goates home. Mrs. William Grow and Mr. and Mrs. William Grow, Jr., and son, Billie, of Salt Lake, and Mrs. Adolph Christensen of Sandy, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Peck last week. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Knight had as their guests on Memorial Day Mr. and Mrs. John M. Knight, Mrs. Cornell Knight, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Knight and Miss Ellis Pinnick, all of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Taylor enter tained at dinner on Memorial Day for Mr. and Mrs. James Taylor and Miss Mary Kirkham of Provo. The table was centered with a crystal basket of sweet peas. . , o Miss Reva Goates has been pro moted to chief operator at the local telephone office. She is taking the place of Miss Norma Whitman, who has so ably filled this position for several years. Miss Josephine Bring-hurst Bring-hurst is one of the new "hello" girls. Word has been received from Los Angeles, California, of the death, of Mrs. Annie Newlinger, who passed away at her home last Tuesday. Mrs. Newlinger was a former Lehi resident resi-dent having moved from this city some twelve years ago. Word has been received hy relatives rela-tives that William Hutchings, Jr., a graduate of Ogden High School and a former Lehi resident was one of the four honor students to win the Thompson scholarship of $600 at the University of California, to be paid in ten monthly installments. Mr. Hutchings is a Junior at the University Univer-sity and is majoring In sciences. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Norman are the happy parents of a baby girl, born Saturday night. Mrs. Norman is in Salt Lake at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph GilL Boyd and Mack Holmstead left Wed nesday for Springdale, Montana, where they will he employed for six weeks They returned home ' two weeks ago from Missouri where they spent three, months. Mr. and Mrs. John Stoker are the proud grand parents of a baby girl born May 30th to Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Neal, of Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Stoker spent the week-end in the city to extend a hearty welcome to the little lit-tle stranger, all concerned are wearing wear-ing a broad smile over the new arrival ar-rival to the Stoker family . Mrs. Neal is in the Holy Cross Hospital. Mother and baby are doing nicely. Mr. Thomas Russon celebrated his 75th birthday anniversary Sunday. A bounteous dinner was prepared and served by his daughter, Florence. Covers were laid for the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Russon and son of Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Lott A. Russcn and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra A. Chugg and family of Providence, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Holbrook nd family, of Clearfield, Mrs. Hannah Holbrook of Bountiful, and Miss Bernese Russon of Provo, Mr. Russon was presented with a beautiful birthday gift. The afternoon j was spent in social chat. Mrs. Ezra Chugg and three daughters remained to spend the week at the Russon home. ' .Work On Churches Progressing Construction work on both the Second and Fifth ward church, houses la progressing at a rapid rate now. In both Instances the brick work is nearing tie square and other work on the buildings Is being pushed as rapidly as possible. When completed these structures will add two mors beautiful public buildings to Lent's already big list of civic buildings. While the two struc tures are similar the Fifth ward building is of a medium light brick and the Second ward structure is a dark blue. Both are beginning to show their beauty of color and archetlcture. Plans are to complete the mas near as possible by fall or early winter. ' o Kindergarten May Be Conducted Here This Summer A kindergarten class will probably be held in Lehi this summer. Miss Fox, head of all the kindergartens in Utah, has been here talking with Superintendent Gourley and would like very much to see a class started in Lehi, American Fork and Pleasant Grove, as it has proved a wonderful benefit to the children commencing to school in the fall. The class would be conducted for six weeks during the summer for the children who start to school In the tall. All parents who are interested please get in touch with Mrs. G. R. Taylor or Mrs. A E. Adams. - o Daughters Of Pioneers Meeting Camp 1 of the Daughters of the Pioneers will hold their next meeting Thursday, June 14th at the home of Mrs. Hyrum Kirkham. . ..... The next meeting of Camp 3 of the Daughters of the Pioneers will be held at the home of Mrs. Thomas Taylor, Thursday, June 14th. , Camp 2 will hold their meeting Wednesday, June 13th, at Mrs. Sarah Kirkham's home. Following is the program that will be given. A vocal solo "Utah" by Miss Marjorle Russell; musical number by Mrs. Louis Christ ensen; reading oy miss myitis Kirkham; a vocal solo by Mrs. T. F. Kirkham; reading of the life of the late George Kirkham by Mrs. J. C. Russell. The meetings will commencce at the regular time, 2 o'clock.
