The Viking loss did not dim the hopes of a young and determined group of players who feel as though they can surprise a few teams in a very good region. Box Elder jumped out to a quick 11-7 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 16-10 16-10 lead at the end of the period. Pleasant Grove struggled to find an open shot as well as to avoid foul trouble. The Bees found themselves them-selves in the bonus before the opening quarter was over. Cody Bilbro and Jay-den Jay-den Gray paced the Vikings with four points each in the first eight minutes of action. In the second quarter the Viking opened the period with an 8-0 run to give Pleasant Grove their lone lead of the game at 18-16. The Vikings improved their defense, which in turn aided in the foul count. The Vikings were whis three-pointer putting the Vikings within 17-23. Before Pleasant Grove could get any closer, Provo picked up four unanswered points to put the score at 27-17. Aided by another Smith trey and a Katie Dixon 10-foot 10-foot shot, the Vikings pulled within 22-28. Their efforts to get closer were brushed aside by a 6-2 scoring run sparked by a Kuchar basket. Bilbro's 10 points aided in a strong showing as Pleasant Grove clawed to within two points at 37-39 with eight minutes remaining remain-ing in the game. The Bees were too much for the Vikings in the final eight minutes however, as Box Elder outscored Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove 17-11. The Vikings did make things interesting though ... twice. Following two runs by the Bees in which Box Elder nailed a couple of big baskets, the Vikings answered with defense.
