Barbara and Lowell were married Aug.. 14, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They met while attending attend-ing Pleasant Grove High School and married before Lowell left for the Navy. Barbara was one of the "Loader Girls," a high school cheerleader who grew up on the family fruit farm. Lowell's family moved to Orem while he was in high school and he attended Pleasant Grove High School. He participated partici-pated in the band and dance orchestra, and was a Thespian participating in school and church plays. They made their first home in Pleasant Grove after Lowell finished three years in the Navy, where they raised their four children chil-dren - John, Laurel, Lisa and Brad. While raising their children they were involved in Jaycees, Lions Club, Kiwanis and church activities. They are active in the LDS church. They are now residents of Orem busy with family, church callings call-ings and business ventures. ven-tures. They spend time with their grandchildren telling stories of dating adventures, getting their M-Men and Golden Gleaner Glean-er awards and the fun they had as teenagers. J. Lowell and Barbara Baxter Concert pays tribute to 'The King' When the SCERA Shell outdoor theater was built 20 years ago and before its grand opening, Kerry Summers Sum-mers was the first performer per-former and did a magic act. Summers will appear again at the Shell Aug. 18, and this time he's offering a different dif-ferent kind of magic. He will recreate the essence of Elvis Presley in a concert featuring several selections- from the legendary leg-endary performer's 1969 Las Vegas comeback. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are available weekdays week-days at the SCERA Arts Center (745 S. State St.), by calling 225-2569 or at the gate performance night. The Shell is ' located in SCERA Park at 699 S. State St., Orem. Summers performed at the SCERA in October at Showhouse II to a sold out audience that led to his August booking. "I knew a lot of people would be coming com-ing back, so I've created a different show based on Elvis' Hilton Hotel performances perform-ances in Las Vegas. He did a lot of his classics as well as some contemporary songs. I'll be offering selections of both." Included in the show will be "Heartbreak Hotel," "Hound Dog," and "Bridge Over Troubled Water," the song of the year in 1968. "This will be a stompin', kickin' kind of concert that will also feature ballads and some patriotic music," Summers Sum-mers said. "I feel really honored to perform at the Shell," he added, "especially in light of the SCERA's outstanding season. I get to be on the same stage where Bob Newhart, Bobby Vinton and other high caliber artists performed. I'm glad the SCERA has that kind of trust in me." Summers travels much of the year and entertained on three cruise ships last year. After the SCERA show, he will leave for an Alaskan cruise. He has traveled to more than two dozen countries, coun-tries, played for corporate venues and entertained in Branson, Nashville, Las is a new line of semi-precious stonejewelrtj made to compliment tjour stlc, whatever tjour needs. Kerry said he realizes people come to show, not so much because of him, but because they have memories memo-ries and feelings about what Elvis meant to them. "I recreate memories in the minds of those people." His own love for Elvis began in 1971 when he saw Elvis' Aloha Concert Con-cert on television in Australia. "It was an incredible show and really pulled me in. I created an Elvis character in my ventriloquism act and put sideburns side-burns on the dummy. I worked hard on his voice and recorded one of his songs. There were people peo-ple who didn't believe it was me and not Elvis." Summer's August show will combine show-in show-in a n s h i p , authentic music, elaborate costumes and motivational messages. Joining Summers onstage will be a five-piece band, four female vocalists and the Knights of Freedom. Free-dom. Enhancing the show will be his wife Carla who serves as his costume designer. NPMfWMfW!
