Night: S4.00 Utah Lake trail property questions resolved Plans for the Utah Lake trail are progressing. Lindon mayor Larry Ellertson told the City Council May 18 that about 75 percent of the land ownership questions along Utah Lake have been resolved, including most of the questions in Lindon. This means construction could begin soon on parts of the trail, though a lot of Vineyard is unresolved. "The Supreme Court has ruled the bottom of the lake belongs to the state. Question is, where does the bottom of the lake begin?" Ellertson said. Holly Stansfield reports on education grant Every year Lindon's City Council budgets a few hundred hun-dred dollars for grants to local teachers. Holly Stansfield, who teaches basic science at Rocky Mountain Elementary, Elemen-tary, reported on her grant May 18. The grant allowed her to buy a kit used for teaching the phases of the moon, and to get another grant from the Air Force. Stansfield teaches sixth grade the first half of the year and fifth grade the second half, so she hasn't been able to use the kit yet since it's for sixth grade and it didn't come until March. JohansenThackeray get minor subdivision change Lindon's City Council followed the Planning Commission's Commis-sion's recommendation and approved a minor subdivision subdivi-sion change in Lindon's Gateway at 300 S. 800 West. The change adjusts the lot line between lots 10 and 11 in Plat "B", giving more room to build on lot 10. Both lots are larger than the city requires. APA urges cities to caution developers The American Planners Association is urging cities to put the burden on developers to make sure the lots they sell are buildable. Lindsey Bayless told other Lindon City Council Members May 18 that developers don't always test .every lot in a subdivision. If the subdivision is built around septic tanks, for example, developers may only test a few lots to make sure they're suitable for septic tanks. City approves concrete bid Lindon's City Council approved Western Quality Concrete's Con-crete's $75,536 bid to put in curb and gutter on the west side of Main Street between 60 North and the Hollow. The curb and gutter will provide better storm drainage in the Hollow and prevent storm water from pooling in the horse arena. The city will use $35,000 from potential reserves for the project.
