The theme for this year's Artist Quick Draw to take place By Linda Butler The Artist Quick Draw at the Pleasant Grove Library is literally "art in action." Sixteen local artists will be present at the library tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m. While at the library, each artist will complete a work of art, which will be auctioned auc-tioned off later in the evening. All proceeds go to support sup-port a new library for the community of Pleasant Grove. Bidders are invited to browse the art work in progress while enjoying appetizers and fine music by local musicians. 1 ! 8 TO CHOW graduates was "One Step Ahead." Speakers encouraged graduates to build on their experiences and look to the future. The student speakers were Braden J. Powell, valedictorian; vale-dictorian; Adrianne Ringger and Dan Argile, chosen for academic excellence; and Megan Stewart, representing represent-ing those students completing complet-ing senior projects. Powell urged graduates to use the knowledge they have gained to take the tomorrow T.ncal artists will be working in a wide variety of styles and media. Artists who will be creating creat-ing art at the Quick Draw include Heidi Adkins, Debbie Deb-bie Anderson, Steve Bartholomew, Larry Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, Joseph Cosman, David Dean, Lynn Farrer, Dwane Free, Stefanie Hunt, John Jarvis, Gary Kapp, Justin Kunz, Peter Meyer, Brian Prince, Bob Oscarson, Doyle Shaw, Rose Van Buskirk, and Andy Watson. Artists who are donating artwork to be auctioned include Carol Harding, Gary Price, A.D. The city has almost a magical feeling as residents pause to celebrate, and their families and friends return to Pleasant Grove for their favorite part of the celebration. It might be the parade, the rodeo, the Tuesday Tues-day night concert, the children's chil-dren's parade or the Thursday Thurs-day morning breakfast. There will be some new events this year, the Youth Theater will be presenting the "Wild, West Roundup," Orchestra 'Concerts By Linda Butler This summer's "Concerts in the Park" series will begin with a performance by the Pleasant Grove Orchestra. This concert will feature selections from favorite shows, including "Oklahoma," "Okla-homa," "An American in Paris," and "The Lord of the Rings." Rounding out the evening will be "Americana," "Ameri-cana," "Beatles Medley," and "Armed Forces Salute." The performance will take place Sunday evening on the southeast lawn of the Pleasant Grove Recreation Center, at the corner of 200 S. 100 East. It will begin each night at 6 p.m. On Thursday and Friday, Fri-day, the melodrama will also be at 1 and 3 p.m. On Saturday, additional performances per-formances will be at 2 and 3:30 p.m. Other new events will be the Baby Contest in the Royal Victorian Rose Garden Gar-den just across the street from the fire station. It will be held on Wednesday, June 18, at 10 am. "We have openings for string players and - other instrumentalists," said conductor con-ductor Sharon Ives. The orchestra rehearses Saturday mornings from 8 to 10 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Library and plays five concerts a year, beginning begin-ning in October. They also perform "The Messiah" in December, a concert in February, and a Young Artists' Concert in April. The season concludes with the outdoor concert in June.
