Show Times Newspaper Page B2 Thursday, April 24, 2003 TUDENT CHOOL NEm fsT Jonnetta Baldwin Retires from Alpine School District Jonnetta (Jones) Baldwin has been a dedicated, gifted teacher who has made a big difference in lives of all the students she taught during the 30 years she has been in the classroom. She has made learning an extra-special experience for many children. Parent and students stu-dents alike have often commented, com-mented, "She is the best teacher in the world." With much appreciation and respect, parents have thanked her in several ways for her having given their children a wonderful educational educa-tional experience coupled with lots and lots of love. Because of her numerous talents as a teacher, the Ore Council PTA named her Outstanding Educator at Orchard Elementary School ITtllr....triiilMir.iiilt.-.i-.i.iirmnlir.ny.- Kmi Jonnetta Baldwin for the 1992-93 school year, presenting her the Golden Apple Award. Jonnetta graduated from BYU in 1965 and began her teaching career at Lindon Elementary and Geneva Elementary from 1965-67. From 1968-73 she taught in Manhattan Beach, California. She later moved back to Utah where she has been teaching second grade at Sharon Elementary and Orchard Elementary in the Alpine School District. Married to Jeff Baldwin, a retired English teacher from Mountain View High School, Jonnetta and her husband reside in Orem and have three children and one grandson. A celebration will be held at Cascade Golf Course on April 29, 2003 at 6-8 p.m. Canyon View student place at language fair For the second consecutive time, Canyon View Junior High prevailed at the Brigham Young University French language fair. This was a statewide competition with schools coming from St. George to Logan. The French students placed first or second sec-ond in 11 out of the 20 events. The Level I competition was led by Lindsey Linge, who placed first in reading comprehension, culture exam and second place in Hstening comprehension. Joylyn Loveridge and Jewel Wakamatsu placed first and second place respectively in the grammar exam. Alicia Jarvis and Julia McDougal placed first and second in listening lis-tening comprehension. Sarah McFate took first place for a poem. She presented her poem to an audience of about 500 people. The Level II students took first place in four of the competitions. com-petitions. Matt Castillo placed first in the grammar portion, and Emily Primrose took second place in the grammar event. The students won 15 prizes for their efforts. Their advisor, Dave Nielsen, said they worked hard to prepare themselves for each event.
