The win puts the Wolves in sole possession of first and if they win out, Timpanogos will capture its first region championship in the sport. The T-Wolves jumped out to an early 12-1 lead behind three-pointers by Nelson and Eddie Norton but the Knights would not go away. Brandon Knight found space in the paint and scored six points in the second sec-ond quarter as Lone Peak finished the half on a 17-10 run. Nelson and Weitzeil stepped it up in the second half to hold off any potential rallies. With three and half minutes min-utes remaining in the game, the Wolves managed to grab three offensive rebounds on one possession resulting in a Weitzeil layup for an eight-point lead. Kurt Becker played well during crunch hitting his only two shots late to extend the lead to 10. With Lone Peak in desperate des-perate need of a basket, the Knights went to Knight but his shot was rejected by Weitzeil, who finished the game with three blocks. The Knights almost regained some momentum when Andrew May hit a layup to trim the lead and Becker missed the following front-end of a one-and-one. However, Nelson grabbed the rebound and the Knights were forced to foul the T-Wolves best free-throw free-throw shooter. He made them both. Lone Peak then had four attempts at a three-point basket on its next possession posses-sion before Becker stole the ball away to seal the victory. In addition to Nelson and Weitzeil, the defense played on Lone Peak stars Rick Roberts and Ryan Chase was paramount. The two were held to nine points in the first half and just 23 for the game. "We felt if we contained them we would have a chance," Hardman said of his defensive philosophy. Murray Tucker was a big part of the defense on Chase despite the fact that he was playing on a sprained ankle, suffered the day before in practice.
