Orem's defense .took its lumps early allowing 23 points in each of the first two quarters. The 24-point 24-point halftime deficit could have been far worse but the T-Birds committed commit-ted 10 turnovers in the first half and 21 in the game. "Orem's a very good team. We just caught them on an off night," Timpview coach Ray Scott said. "An off night" might be an understatement. The Tigers shot ' 33-percent from the field, 50-percent from the line and committed com-mitted 15 turnovers of their own. The 71 points allowed by their defense is also a season-high. Despite her team's shooting woes, Heather Keith scored 18 points, including three 3-point-ers. Tiffany Peterson scored only half of her 19.9 points per game average. At 125 Cyler Sanderson over Chase Boy s Basketball No inside game for Tigers; MARTIN HARRIS Times Sports Editor Orem's inside game was repeatedly crushed by Timpview as the Tigers lost 62-54. The Tigers managed to stay close because of their three-point shooting. Orem made its first five beyond the arc and finished the third quarter 7-of-14 and trailing by only two points. Five different Orem players play-ers made a three in the first half as the Tigers showed off their variety of weapons. The team lived by the long ball and died by it. In the fourth, they made only one of six attempts. The Tigers might have been able to get an upset if they had been able to accomplish anything in the paint. They shot five-of-30 inside the arc and could not get a lot of shots past the Timpview post players. He is why we only got five field goals inside tonight." Lincoln Reid was often the one getting the brunt of Miles's long arms. He made only one of 12 shots close to the basket and several attempts were marked "return to sender" by the Timpview center. The Orem defense held Miles to only half of his 12.4 points per game average. The six-point performance was his lowest total of the season. "We tried make sure backside help was always their on him but in doing so we left some guys open who knocked down their shots," Shiede said.
