Mayor Heber Thompson and city engineer engi-neer Andy Spencer met Tuesday with Chris Mitchell, treasurer of the club, to negotiate a settlement that could help the club maintain space to keep their horses. Thompson was optimistic about coming to a conclusion. "I think we will get resolution, both from the state point of view and the RC point of view," he said. "1 think this is going to be resolved very fine." He referred to both finding find-ing a location for the club and restrictions the state had placed on the land, saying it must be used for recreation. Club members had been told to move their horses from city-owned property near the Fox Hollow Golf Course to the city could build a reservoir for its pressurized irrigation system. There had been a Feb. 15 deadline. About 20 horses remained at the stables the club had built decades ago, their owners hoping for a compromise between the club and the city so both could have a place for their uses. Mitchell said he was pleased with the tenor See RIDING.
