Rollins told more than 1,00(1 graduates assembled in the Mi Kay I.vents Center that they should enjoy the moment but remember three things: who they are, what they do and the company they keep. I lie school will change to Utah Valley University on July 1 201 iK, so UVSC President William A. Sederburg reminded students that they could send for a new diploma that will say Utah Valley University once the change takes place. Student said they were enjoying the feelings of having ear ned a degree. "It feels good," said Shalee Denver who graduated with a bachelor's of fine arts. She also said it was nice to listen and learn from people who had been in her place and had some life experience. Rollins told students that a person is more than a title or a degree. " There will come a day when accomplishments, titles and honors will be swept into the twilight of the past and then it's important to know who you are at your core," Rollins said. Student Body President Andrew Stone told graduates to keep learning. "Don't stop once the paper is on the wall, but continue to learn. Take any opportunity you can to be a student," he said. When Rollins spoke about the company people keep, he told graduates to remember those who have encouraged, supported and reprimanded them to the places they are today. "Always surround yourself with the best people and build strong and meaningful relationships. Nothing will shape your life more profoundly or bring you more joy than the company you keep," Rollins said. He also told graduates to aim high. "Whatever you do, don't set your sights too low. Dream big. Regardless of how high you set your bar, I promise you that you have the capacity to clear it," Rollins said. The school awarded honorary degrees to Jeff Alexander, Melanie Bastian and Ira and Mary Lou Fulton. The Fulton's also received honorary doctorates from Brigham Young University on Thursday. Ira Fulton, who has donated significant sums on money to both schools, called it an investment in people. "I do not donate money to anybody," Fulton said. "I invest in the future of the people I deal with." I Brittani Lusk can be reached at 344-2549 or at hluskt" heraldextra.com. f ' f . 1 ' . I V.'
