Harris, professor of biology, Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Soreasen Student Center. After the award, Harris will be speaking speak-ing on his research in advanced ad-vanced plant studies. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the UVSC Foundation, a group of volunteers vol-unteers that support and promote UVSC in the community. com-munity. The Foundation is a private, nonprofit corporation that receives and administers private contributions on tiehulf of UVSC. "This award was created to promote the visibility of UVSC's distinguished faculty while demonstrating the lx;n-efits lx;n-efits of contributions from the UVSC Foundation," said Ian Wilson, executive director of the Foundation. Harris is a leading scholar in the field of advanced plant studies and taxonomy. His work on the UVSC virtual herbarium her-barium has been funded by the National Science Foundation. I le has helped set the standard for digital herbarium images. Harris served for several years as dean of the Schxl of Science and I lealth before choosing to return to the classroom where he hopes to have a great impact on UVSC students. Outback Steakhouse hosts lunch to benefit UVSC scholarship Put another "chicken on the barbie:" Outback Steakhouse in Orem is hosting a second benefit luncheon for Utah Valley Val-ley State College Oct. 20 at noon, this time for the Connie Reynolds Memorial Dance Scholarship Fund. As with the first luncheon in July, 100 xrrcent of the proceeds go to the scholarship fund, and all tickets purchased by UVSC faculty, staff, students, stu-dents, alumni and advisory boards will be eligible for the Fulton Challenge, where any individual gilt donated to UVSC of up to $1,000 will be matched by the Full oris. The luncheon and other events brought in more than $5,000, and with the Fulton match, the Donner-Galbraith scholarship will be endowed by January. Membership to the center is $4 per person. As part of the membership, seniors se-niors can subscribe for a year to the American Fork Citizen for $15. I Flu shot clinic There will be a health care fair on Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with flu and pneumonia vaccines vac-cines offered.
