Cavemen play at Highland tourney By Dean Von Memmotj Sports Correspondent The American Fork Cavemen opened their volleyball vol-leyball season at the Highland High-land Ram Invitational, played Aug. 22-24 at both Highland and Skyline high schools. The tournament was designed to test the rally scoring format. American Fork lasted only two matches, according to head coach Heather Black. We did 3:30 p.m. Cross-country team hosts annual relays The American Fork High School cross-country team begins its competitive season sea-son Saturday as the host of the annual Grass Relays Cross-Country Invitational. The event is staged on the fields to the east of the school. The high school races begin with the J.V. girls at 8 a.m., followed by J.V. boys at 8:20 a.m. The varsity girls' relay is set to start at 8:40 and the varsity boys' relay at 11 a.m. Athletes will twice tackle a one-mile loop that has four jumps of varying sizes made out of hay bales. At least 25 teams from around the state are expected to compete. The Cavemen squad is led this year by team cap- Triathlon set for HASP The Hilltop Aquatic Swim Team will hold a Dash 'N Splash Triathlon on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 7 a.m. The event will include a 5K run, 10 mile bike ride and 400 meter swim in the competitor category.
