He is kneeling in the snow at "Valley Forge, saying a prayer to Heavenly Father. He was a general and his soldiers were battling the British who outnumbered thEm. 'British soldiers had nice uniforms, and plenty of food and shelter. But Washington's men had very litffle food or shelter, and mjst of them didn't even have shoes on their feet, only rags. ilThey had been fighting foB their independence, to establish a land of freedom. General Washington knew hfflv important this was and he knew they really needed Heavenly Father's help. When I have a problem prob-lem that seems too hard to handle, I think of that picture pic-ture and I remember to pray for help. There are many people who have set great examples. exam-ples. Another one of our presidents, Abraham Lincoln, set such a good example of honesty, that he was called "Honest Abe." People could always trust him and what he said. Like President Washington, President Lincoln was very prayerful. He became president at a very difficult time in our nation's history. The nation was divided over the issue of slavery, and President Lincoln was determined to keep the country together. Because of his prayers, faith and humility, he was able to bring our nation through a terrible war and unite us as one nation again. What a great man he was. My brother Eric is also a good example to me. He is seven years older than I am, but he always lets me hang out with him and his friends.
