Fork Sfike Missionary Dinner Tcnight Tha annual American Fork Stake Missionary Dinner will be held tonight (Thursday) at the stake tabernacle from 5 to 8 p.m. Proceeds from the dinner will be used to assist local missionaries laboring in foreign lands, accord rum of Seventies,who are spon sors of the event. The committee in charge of the banquet will include the seven presidents of Seventy, Gerald Marchello, Kay Robinson.Eugene Wimmer, Doug Nell, Stephen Chipman, Lynn Nilsson and Earl Hansen. . Each family in the stake has been visited, inviting members and non-members of the LDS Church to attend the dinner. An information center will be staffed during the evening and those at tending are aksed to make a voluntary donation to the missionary mis-sionary fund. None of the funds will be retained In the stake, but will be forwarded for use in the foreign missionary program to assist worthy missionaries of limited income. Serving will be in progress from 5 to 8 p.m. and families may attend at their convenience during those hours. 0. C. Madsen Addresses Nat. Guardsmen History teaches us you cannot achieve peace by being weak,the graduating class of Utah Military Academy was told here June 19. Guest speaker at the ceremony, O.S. Madsen.civilian aide to the Secretary of the Army for Utah, told the graduates andalmost 4,000 other U tah National Guardsmen that military forces won't 'be decimated as U.S. involvement inVietnamis brought to a conclusion. The graduation ceremony formally ended annual field training for almost 4,000 Utah Guardsmen. However other Utah and out-of-state guardsmen will c onduct their annual two-week training later this month and during dur-ing July at Camp Williams and Dugway Proving Grounds. Mr. Madsen, controller for Kennecott Copper Corp., also told the 49 new second lieutenants: "There is only one sure path to honorunfaltering honesty and sincerity in word and deed. I hope you will continue to earn, this great nation' s trust." "During these challenging times it is refreshing to meet and be associated withpeople who have a record of achieving; who are willing to train and share the responsibility of leadership, and who support traditional values." During the past two weeks some 3,000 pardsmen were at Camp Williams and another 1,000 at Dugway. On June 15 nine members of the Honorary Colonels Corps visited artillery training sites at Dugway, Accompanied by Maj. Gen. Maurice L. Watts, they saw-175-millimeter cannons fire at targets a dozen miles away out of sight from the firing point. The colonels, who advise the Utah Guard, also were briefed on the history and purpose of Deseret Test Center, which maintains research and development develop-ment facilities at Dugway for chemical and biological warfare. "Chuck" Peterson To Head United Fund Advanced Gifts Charles E. "Chuck" Peterson, owner ofPetersonMotorsofPro-vo, ofPetersonMotorsofPro-vo, has been appointed as the Advanced Ad-vanced Gifts and Pacesetter Division Di-vision Chairman of the eighth United Fund Campaign in Utah County, it was announced byF.M. "Mac" Haycock,General Chairman Chair-man for this year'sdrive. Eighteen non-profit, non-tax supported sup-ported agencies in Utah County receive financial support from the Fund. These agencies provide services and programs in the health, welfare, youth guidance, character building, and recreation recrea-tion for the handicapped. Mr, Peterson has for many years assisted with community programs. He is active in Scouting, Scout-ing, an L.D.S, Ward Bishop.and is a member of the BoardofDir-ectors BoardofDir-ectors of the United Fund. To assist in this important division di-vision of the Fund, Mr. Peterson will select fifteen or more business busi-ness and professional men, who will contact seventy firms for the firm gift to the Fund. Several Pilot or Pacesetter firms will be completing their drive ahead of the general kick-off which is set for Friday noon, September 24th, at the Wilkinson Center, B.Y.U. The Executive Committee of the United Fund Board under Jack Allen, President will also work with Mr. Peterson in this advanced ad-vanced campaign.
