I was only taking three semester boars, yet on the card tt showed 15. Why Is this? A.: Since summer school is &n accelerated session, payment is based on standard class sessions ses-sions rather than semester hours.' You had IS standard class sessions per week. However, to avoid confusion, this year the card will show the actual semester hours. You will still be paid on the number of standard class sessions. Q.i I Just got out of service and plan to enter college this fall under the GI BilL Dc I have to do anything to establish that I am entitled to educational assistance as-sistance from the Veterans Ad ministration? Or will the school notify VA that I'm a veteran and have enrolled for training? A.: You should apply immedi-ftely immedi-ftely to the VA Regional Office where your records are on file for a Certificate of Eligibility. This certificate will confirm your entitlement and the amount of training you are taking. The registrar at the college should also be specifically requested re-quested by you to notify VA of your enrollment and the amount of training you are taking. Q.: I am a veteran with three years of active duty - 1959 to 1962. I was totally and permanently per-manently disabled by an accident. Am I entitled to a non-service connected pension? A.: The answer is no. The basic requirements for non-service non-service connected oension is that the veteran have at least 90 days ;acve duty, any part ofwmcn was during wartime. If I should enlist in the Army Reserve, Re-serve, will I retain my student deferment? A.: When your local hoard receives re-ceives evidence that vou have en listed, you will then be reclass ified from Class 11-S to Class 1-D (Member of a reserve com- nonent). 0 .: When I reach my 18th birthday I will be in college some distance from my home. Must I eo home to register? A.: No. You must register within 5 davs of vour 18th birth day at any of the more than 4,000 local boards located throughout the country. Consult the tele phone directory for the city where you are living to determine the address of the local board nearest vnti. A.: No. When the distance from his own local board is such that reporting to it would be a hardship, he may be transferred for physical examination or Induction or both, by requesting this action of the local toard nearest him. Q: I understand now that a woman may serve as a member of a local draft board. Can you tell me If this is true and if so how may I become a member and what is the pay? A.: The 1967 Military Selective Selec-tive Service Act does not preclude pre-clude a woman from serving as a Jocal board member. To be eligible, vou must be a citizen, at least 30 years of age, reside in the area over which tne ooara has turisdictlon and not a mem ber of the Armed Forces or their Reserve components.
