"The first tree was a fir, cut from the Green Mountains of Vermont," Rep. Burton continued. contin-ued. "This year's tree was nothing noth-ing more than a sapling when the first Mormon pioneers began settling set-tling in Heber Valley in the 1850's." The tree will stand at the head of a circumferential sidewalk in the Avenue of Peace, south of the White House, on the area known as "The Ellipse".
