Larson Called by Death, Funeral Saturday Neil Stephen Larson, 70, pioneer pi-oneer fur breeder and long time resident of Lehi, died Tuesday, July 30, in the Veterans Hospital Hos-pital in Salt Lake City. Death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage, hem-orrhage, suffered Saturday, July 27. Mr. Larson was a pioneer in the fur breeding industry. Hebe-gan Hebe-gan mink ranching in 1938, and had built up his stock into not only large numbers but the highest high-est quality and most modern mutations, before his retirement. His sons, Rex and F. Von Larson Lar-son of Lehi, have continued in the industry and have followed in his pattern of providing the finest pelts for the New York and international markets. He was affiliated with the American Legion. Le-gion. Active in LDS Church affairs, af-fairs, he had served in the Elders El-ders Quorum presidency in the Lehi Fifth Ward. He was born in American Fork, Dec. 27, 1897, a son of Niels Andrew and Elizabeth Jane (Lisa) Smith Larson. He was married to Erma Fox, April 9, 1924, in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized sol-emnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Tem-ple. He is survived by his wife, two sons', Rex and Von Larson, and a daughter, Mrs. James (Patricia) (Pat-ricia) Gray, all of Lehi; and daughters, Mrs. Glen (Lois) Jor-gensen Jor-gensen and Mrs. LeRoy (Glenda) Carter, both of Pleasant Grove, and Mrs. Paul (Norma) Mecham, American Fork; two brothers and one sister, Leslie Larson, Lehi; Allen Larson, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Mrs. Thelma Green, American Fork; and 18 grandchildren. grand-children. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 1:00 p.m. in the Wing Mortuary chapel. Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday prior to the services. Alpine City Council Meets The City Council of Alpine City, in the County of Utah and the State of Utah, met in a special spec-ial session at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 1968 to consider Special Spec-ial Improvement District 19, 68-1. The Alpine Lions Club will have their chuckwagon open the first four Fridays in August from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Kenneth Bennett, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marlow Bennett, was a special guest at the March of Dimes Youth Conference held at the BYU last Wednesday. The David Adams reunion was held Saturday at the home of Mrs. Alberta Bennett. Folks gathered from Utah, Idaho, and Arizona. Both Alpine wards will stay at the Mutual Dell next week. Saturday night 30 cousins met at Mrs. Clifford Christensen's for a party. The Alpine Ward's Men Softball Soft-ball team tied for 1st place with the 6th ward in the Alpine Stake and will play for the championship champion-ship Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the American Fork High School. Something quite different has happened at the home of Max and Maurine Beck. They have a baby boy after having six girls. The baby was born in the Am. Fork Hospital weighing seven pounds and two ounces. LaMar Drew, General Manager for the Alpine Little League Baseball, says that this year proves to be the best little league lea-gue baseball program Alpine has ever had. There has been lots of support and enthusiasm shown this year. They have finished the first half and the winning situation is: Cardinals, f irst place under Larry Lar-ry Higley and Ramon Beck; Braves, second under Steve Walker, (who has now left for the service) Jerry Anderson and Niles Halley. The Tigers were third place under Dean Burgess and President Reid Burgess; and the Giants were fourth place under un-der Leo Turner and Max Buck-ner.
