School had its official opening of school student body activities for this new school year, 1964-; 1964-; 65, Id' the form of Courtesy Days, featuring three days of special activities; M4fv-: , : On Wednesday, September 1 6; everyone was ' Invited to Join In School Spirit Day, This was a day that the Student Council set aside for everyone to get (o know each other. Some students stu-dents are new to our school. These Included the largest sixth grade class, thus far enrolled at the school and about forty t new students who have come to . . us from other parts of the state, ' and as far away as West Ger many, A welcome was extended to these' students with an Invitation In-vitation to become active members mem-bers of the student body. Badges Bad-ges were given to each student in their homeroom class which read, 'Hello, I'm(student's name)," and these badges were pinned to shirts ; or blouses of all students, plus faculty and staff members. Everyone was Invited to say Hello" to everyone every-one they met " in effort to be courteous, To further contribute contri-bute to school spirit day, everyone every-one wore the traditional colors of red and white. i a- Thursday, September 17 was Stop! Look I and Listen! Day." Here again courtesy was stress sed. To add to the theme of the day, the committee in charge placed a dotted line down the center of all halls and stairways, stair-ways, posted stop lights at hall intersections," and posted caution and direction signs where appropriate throughout the building. Discourtesy, or crossing over the 'centerT line or disobeying any signs was rewarded re-warded by a 'traffic ticket" and fines, which were Issued by committee members labled courtesy Cops." Those Issued tickets paid their fines during the matinee dance Friday, which was another feature of the week. The final day of the week, Friday, was set aside as Dress-up-Day and everyone wore their very best dress or suit. This gave the entire 'student body a i more refined feeling and courtesy seemed to come even more ' natural. In each home room, a Miss Smile and a Mr. Smile was selected, and these homeroom- candidates were voted on by the student body. The Miss Smile and Mr, Smile from the Sixth grades were Nancy Nan-cy Burch and Jon Adams; Seventh grade,. Mary Kay Teuscher and Harley Jacobs, and Eighth grade, Jana Chrl-ensen Chrl-ensen and Jack Larson,' These personalities were properly introduced in-troduced at the Courtesy Days Matinee Dance Friday after school Committee members for the three days activities included: in-cluded: ' f School Spirit Dayt Co-chair-ment - Dennis Guager, , Harley Jacobs; Faculty Advisors, Mr. Fugal and Mr. Bennett; Committee.
