The boys were divided and then organized into cities named after former, department com manders of the Utah American Legion. They then were organ lzed Into counties names for former Utah governors. Each city elected officials and these officials then nominated candl dates to run in the county and state primaries. Winners of the primary elections entered a general election. Blaine Gunther Gun-ther of American Fork was elected to serve as a state senator sena-tor from one of the counties. To further acquaint the boys with the working of government, several state leaders were present. Lectures were given by Orvllle Gunther, chairman of the State Tax commission, Tne Two Party System;" Mayor Vlrl G. Dixon of Provo, "City Commission! Com-mission! Type Government;" 'Ralph Knudsen, Chief of Police, .Salt Lake City, 'Function of City Police;" Fay Gillette, Tooele County Sheriff, "Function of a County Sheriff Office;" Dr. Edwin Ed-win Peterson, USU faculty .member, "A Study of Compara tive Governments." Tests were given at the beginning be-ginning of the week to determine how much each boy knew about government A similar test was given at the conclusion of the week to' determine how much each boy had learned. Based on the results of the final test, USU scholarships were awarded to boys scoring highly. Jay Greenwood of American Fork was a scholarship recipient The boys sponsored by the American Legion were chosen for candidates selected by the faculty of the American Fork High School along with the American Am-erican Legion Post. The seven are prospective seniors f of next year. They were chosen on lead ership qualities, speaking ability, interest in government and scholastic achievement as some of the considered points for their nomination. Holstein Breeder Notified of New Herd Average A new milk and butterfat production average for the Registered Holstein herd owned by Max B. Graff, American Fork, has been announced by the Holsteln-Friesian Associa tion of America. The herd has completed its latest testing year with a per-cow average of 15,287 pounds milk and 646 pounds of butterfat, based on 45 completed records. Utah State University super vised the weighing and produc-' tlon testing In cooperation with the official herd improvement programs of the Holstein Asso ciation.
