' . 1 Well over $118 million baa been expended for road and equipment improvements in the 1947-61 period. Aydelott "said. Of this amount, $88 million, or an average of $5.9 million per year, is represented by locomotive locomo-tive and cars. New equipment to be added In 1962 at a cost of $7.1 million, will Include 13 general "purpose road- switch type locomotive units, 200 70-ton triple open hopper cars with roller bearings, 25 60-ton 53'6'V reinforced, bulkhead flat cars with roller bearings, 100 53'6" 70-ton Insulated damage free box cars equipped with loaders and roller bearings. The 1962 rail program will' involve in-volve expenditure of $843,000. Principal main-line rail changes call for 6.48 miles of 136 pound rail between Palisade and Fruit-vale, Fruit-vale, Colo.; 9:87 miles of 136 pound rail between Verde and Wellington, Utah. Bridges, trestles and culverts will require expenditure of $302,-000, $302,-000, divided $247,000 on Colorado division, 55,000 on Utah division. Changes of grade and alignment align-ment contemplate expenditure of $332,000. Principal project calls for line change construction construc-tion in the five miles between Cottonwood and Agate', Utah. Cottonwood is ten miles west of the Colorado-Utah state line. ' New updated roadway ma chinery and tools, to be pur chased at a cost of $182,900, will provide better and more economical eco-nomical maintenance of Roadway Road-way arid structures. Shop buildings, englnehouses and appurtenances' will require expenditure of $1,215,400. Construction Con-struction of new diesel facilities at Burnhara (Denver) will combine com-bine diesel repairs and back shop facilities to expendlte service serv-ice to motive power.. Centralization Centrali-zation of Pueblo terminal operations opera-tions will ' relocate mechanical department . facilities, , consoli date store facilities and retire trackage and roundhouse facilities, facili-ties, providing more efficient servicing and better handling of trains. . . .
