This Board action ac-tion followed a legislative change in the law this year wnicn naa previously restricted these permits to one to the li cense noiaer. The other new regulation this year allows the possessor of a special deer permit to also use nu regular license tag to take another deer on the special hunting unit. - ' Big game hunts will swing into full gear Sept. 21 on four elk and three deer herd units, Hunting on 11 seven units will be by special permit only. The elk hunts are the Ashley Daggett, Ashley-Vernal, Ashley-Wlhterocks, Ashley-Wlhterocks, and Hole-in-the Rock. Special permits for these hunts were awarded at the public elk drawings held Aug. 29. Eight other elk hunts are set to begin Sept. 28 and will con tinue for varying lengths of time.' Two late hunts are alxn scheduled: Brown's Park-ThrM Corners beginning Oct. 19 and nan Lake Beginning Nov. 15. Deer hunts beginning Sept. -21 are the Antimony, East Zion and Henry Mountain. All permits per-mits for these hunts were sold on a first come-first served basis ba-sis from department of fish and game offices. Deer hunters were again reminded re-minded -that each holder of a valid big game license may this! year procure two special deer permits. Permits still remain unsold on a number of unit. These may be obtained by writ ten or personal application to the aproprlate deer sales office listed In the 1957 proclamation The archery season ends on Sept. 15. The department noted that the bow and arrow continues con-tinues as a legal weapon dur ing any deer season, general 11 cense or special permit, where the user is properly, licensed for that hunt. This has been the law for many years past and Is listed in answer to numerous inquiries in-quiries on this subject by department de-partment personnel.
