Stewardship Week' "Alpine Soil Conservation District Dis-trict has inaugurated a program throughout the three high achools, American Fork, Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove and Lehl, in an endeavor en-deavor to - get the students to participate in "Soil Stewardship Week" May 6 through 12. They are also endeavoring to get participation In the Eleventh Commandment "Thou shalt Inherit In-herit the Holy Earth as a faithful faith-ful steward, conserving its resources re-sources and productivity from generation to generation. Recent watershed measurements measure-ments show 'a high water table generally existent from Nephl north. Only one critical area, the extreme south-eastern ' portion por-tion of the state, is listed as being be-ing dangerously short supply. Parties responsible for the loss of game fish in the Jordan River last November 18 hve tentatively tentative-ly agreed to replace these losses in kind, the department of fish and game said today. The loss occurred when chemicals chem-icals were accldently released into the Jordan from an industrial indus-trial firm's storage reservoir near 33rd fiouth In Salt Lake City. At least 80 of. all fish were killed from this point to the outfalls In the Great Salt Lake of both the Jordan River and the Surplus Canal. The department said channel catfish were the main game fish species Involved in the die-off, with minor numbers of mud cats and trout being effected.
