In a letter to the Oovernor the Executive Committee specif i cally requested that he secure designation of many counties in Utah as drought disaster counties j and to secure benefits of low cost feed and transportation j under public laws 38 and 875 for ! farmers in those areas. As a I . t u reason lor uiese icuucsu. uic crop prospects, poor pasture conditions con-ditions and urgent need for credit the farmers of those counties are facing this year. (In one county,' it has been re-r ported that only two-tenths of one inch precipitation has fallen this Summer.) The Farmers Union Committee's Commit-tee's letter goes on to state that it has received reports that: 1. Feed is already exhausted in several southern counties, in some of which hay crops are as low as 25 of normal. 2. It is necessary to move the cattle or ship in feed to these areas immediately. 3. Unless help Is forthcoming, many farmers in these areas will be forced to sell their foundation foun-dation herds at once. 4. This forced sale of that livestock will not only financially financial-ly destroy many cattle producers but will depress the market for all cattlemen, even those not directly effected by the drought. To determine the full serious- ness of these reports, the Farm iers ITnlon , Executive Committee consisting of Douglas Simpson of Kamas, Harry Zabriskie of Fair- view and headed by Jesse 8. Tuttle of Castle Dale, president of the organization, stated Tues day, July 26th, to conduct surveys and meetings in the seven hard est hit counties of the State They will report their findings back to the Governor so that he may determine the best course of action to correct and aid the farmers in this serious drought Mr.' Tuttle will conduct these meetings in Emery County on Tuesday, July 26th; Wayne County, Wednesday the 27th; Garfield County, Thursday the 28th; Kane County,' Friday the 29th; Beaver County, Monday, August 1st; Iron County, Tuesday Tues-day the 2nd and Washington County, Wednesday the 3rd.
