Trfc meeting, In the form of a canyon party at the Cave, Camp, was presided over by Mrs. Darld J..Wells, president of the organization. A short bus-lness bus-lness meeting was followed by supper. Fourteen members were present. Miss Ha Rlchln was welcomed wel-comed as a new member at the occasion. On return home from a week end spent In Bountiful Mrs. William Wil-liam R. ' Cordner. the 21 Xlzeta Sorority held a hobo party at the canyon home I of Edward Smith last Thursday; night. Lela Smith was hostess; at the costume affair. Prize fori the best costume was won by! Reva 8mith. Melba Terry won' the game prize. Hobo hamburgers hamburg-ers and orange drink were served for lunch. . The Alpine 8take MIA Board and Leadership meeting will be held' next Tuesday. The board meeting, to' be held In the tithing tith-ing office, will commence at 7:30. The-4eadershlp meeting for all ward officers and teachers will be held In the Stake Tabernacle at 8:15. Last week the stake board members attended an MIA institute insti-tute at Provo. The material obtained ob-tained there will be given to the ward officers and teachers at the stake leadership meeting.. Already four members have been named from the two world war groups, who with this two new members will comprise the committee, which Is expected to authorize the expenditure of the Utah County, war memorial fund now totaling about $20,000 as the American Fork City share. Many of the other county groups have already drawn their various amounts, and It is felt that this fund should be put to beneficial use In this city. Veteran Genealogist Speaker at Meeting L. De Von Mecham, a veteran genealogical worker, was the speaker for a special genealogical meeting held 8unday evening in the recreation hall at the Alpine Ward. Mr. Mecham, who came from the Forrest Dale Ward in Salt Lake City, showed slides and spoke on the Importance of genealogical work and why records rec-ords should be kept. He demonstrated demon-strated with his own records how to make records Interesting and colorful. He also presented a chart depicting the line , of authority from Christ to the present general authorities. This he gave to the ward for use In the library. "Accident Tacts," the Council's statistical yearbook just off the press, shows that the time lost last year as a result of work Injuries In-juries amounted to 250,000,000 man-days. This Includes not only time lost by the employees who were injured, but also that lost by those who stopped work to help the injured or out of curiosity. ' Fifteen thousand workers were killed and 2,000,000 injured In 1952, according to the Council, but last year still was one of the safest years in history for the nation's industries. This ended the baseball season as far as American Fork is con cemed. , However, the second half top position ln this league closed with a tie between Provo and. Helper, each having won ten games during the period. This tie playoff will be set up and if Helper wins the play-off then Provo and Helper will have a three game play-off series to determine de-termine the league champions for the 1953 season since provo won the first half.
