Ashby gave a most Informative and enlighten lng discussion on Americanism at the opening meeting of the Ladles Literary Club held Thursday Thurs-day at the home of Mrs. Vern Walker. The speaker pointed out briefly the sources of Amen can Liberty and then discussed fundamental problems facing the nation today. Mrs. Clen Saunders, chairman of Public Relation of the Timp- anogos First District Federation, reported on an early morning board breakfast held at - the home of Mrs. L. S. Maycock, Orem, to hear the program planned for the coming year. All women's clubs of the district will be asked to work on an educa tional plan with a determined effort to clean up Utah Lake and make it an asset to the county. Mrs. A. F. Oalsford, past district president, was a guest at the breakfast. Mrs. John H. Miller, new presl dent presided. Miss LaRae Rob inson entertained with two ae cordian numbers and Kay Var ney gave two delightful humor ous readings. Birthday Dinner In honor of the birthday of W. J. Walter and his only sister, Mrs Harrison Scott, Provo, Mrs. Wal ter was hostess for dinner Satur day evening. Others present were Mr. Walter's mother, Mrs. Esther Walter. This was the club's assignment assign-ment for the year among; the 11 units belonging to the President's Presi-dent's Council. The work was done under the direction of Mrs. J. Clyde Blrk, president of the club and also chairman of the President's Council. Ilousewarming The birthday of James D. Hall and moving of his family Into a new home in Highland made a double occasion for a gather ing of the Oscar Hall family last week. She has two big brothers and two sisters. - Jeffrey Ray is the name of the 7 pound 14 ounce son of Alta and Merrill Ewell who arrived at the hospital Sept 7. Sister Merl- lee is almost two.
