They are taking Janice to the Michael Reed Hospital, Chicago. Mr. Dawe, formerly a draughtsman with the Ordnance Survey, said: "I had hopes that my wife could have taken her out while I remained at work here but my application to the Treasury for a special release of dollars to pay the cost of the trip and the treatment was rejected. We, therefore, sold our home and are going out as emigrants." RECORDED DUTIES It's the law: (City Marshal) "He shall,, when required, attend meetings cf the city council and execute all orders of the mayor and city council. He shall preserve the peace and good order of the city; quell riots, arrest and bring all disorderly dis-orderly persons before the justice of the peace and, see that all orders and judgments of said court are carried into effect. He 6hall take such measures as shall secure the peace and good order of all public meetings and of the city generally." So reads Section 141 of the revised city ordinances regarding regard-ing the duties of the chief law officer of the" city. Many times the average citizen who has never read the ordinances gets a perverted idea of the duties of some of the city officials. It should be noted the "execute all orders of the mayor and city council" clause puts the administration in a place of responsibility respon-sibility if there is laxity of.enforcement of laws and ordinances.
