J liUdl XllUUlb To Cyntha Walker Impressive funeral services for Cyntha Parks Walker, widow of Delbert Walker,, who died Thursday night at a Provo hospital after a month's Illness of complications following fol-lowing influenza, were held in the Tlmpanogos stake tabernacle Sunday Sun-day afternoon. Bishop Junius A. West conducted the services which began with a vocal duet by Mrs, .Viola Beers and Mrs. Es telle Hardman, accompanied by Mrs. Genevieve Wright. Lona Walker then read a biography bio-graphy of her grandmother. The sketch paid tribute to the deceased as a woman of character modest, self-sacrificing and devoted to her family of thirteen children. The first speaker, A. L. Cullhnore, recalling his association with Mrs. Walker, urged her children to so live that her Influence might be with them always. George W. Larsen took for his text the quotation, "In my Father's house are many mansions." He gave the assurance that Mrs. Walker had gone to prepare a place for her children, which would be waiting If the children lived up to the ideals she taught them. Thomas Fenton spoke of his assurance as-surance that Mrs. Walker would receive re-ceive a high degree of glory in the eternal life because of her fine character and life of service. He referred to the companionship which existed between her and her widowed wid-owed daughter-in-law. Closing musical numbers were two vocal solos, "Lay My Head Beneath Be-neath a Rose" and "That Wonderful Wonder-ful Mother of Mine" sung by Lowell Gordon of Orem and Ray E. Shelley of American Fork. Ezra F. Walker pronounced the benediction -and the grave was dedicated ded-icated by Bishop Leonard Walker of the Lindon ward. Speaker Stresses Temple Marriage Mrs. Donna Ash was the speaker at services Sunday evening in the Third ward chapel, under the direction direc-tion of the Genealogical committee. Wilforu Neves, chairman, presided. That the 'policy of the L D. B. church has been to discourage marrying outside the church, was pointed out by Mrs. Ash. She told of the sacredness, effectiveness, and power of temple marriage1 as compared com-pared to civil marriage, and said that blessings are promised those who ara properly married. But, only those who are married for time and eternity will receive the highest degree de-gree of glory in the celestial kingdom, king-dom, was the view she presented. Mrs.' Ash appealed to the young people to avoid divorce and all the unhappiness it brings through making mak-ing the choosing of a mate a matter of prayer. Musical numbers on the program included an accordian selection by Rulon Brimhall, and two vocal solos by John Peterson , of Lehi, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Mary Neves. Reed Crystal, Sunday School superintendent sup-erintendent and member of the Genealogical Gen-ealogical committee, invited all ward members over the age of 18 to Join a Genealogical class to be held in connection with the 8unday School beginning January 8. This class, he explained, Is to run for only one year, and is not a part of the regu lar adult class. The fundamentals of Genealogical work will be presented by"'experts7h0' explained?" 1 Remarks were also made by Bishop Joseph Walker. The invocation was offered by President M. 8. Christiansen, and the benediction pronounced by Hil-mar Hil-mar Nelson. Jacobs received re-ceived an interesting Christmas letter let-ter from Palo Alto, California from their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Jacobs, In which the latter told of her anxiety over the fate of her mother who lives in France and from whom she has received re-ceived no word since France capitulated. capi-tulated. Hoping to make it possible for her mother to come to America, Mrs. Jacobs sent a notarized affidavit affida-vit vouching for the fact that in case she came to the United States she would not become a 1 public charge.
