Clvde Nelson of American Fork, along with 86 other members of the International Harvester company from Utah and Idaho, left on Saturday. Sat-urday. November 7th for Chicago to attend a Motor Truck conven tion. Several manufacturing insti tutions of the harvester company wlU be. visited on this trip. Mr. Nelson expects to be gone about ten days. A meeting of the stake and ward drama and activity leaders was held last Friday night. The M. I. A drama calendar for the coming sea son was discussed. November being designated as the month for one act plays each of the ward drew lots to determine which play they would produce. Alpine will present "Wild Hobby Horses": Highland, "Bar Rains": American Fork First ward "Smoke": American Fork Second ward. "A Dispatch Goes Home" American Fork Third ward, "Con fessionaV and the American Fork Fourth ward will play "A Pampered Darling." These plays will be pre sented the latter part of November Last Sunday night in the First ward chapel the 4-H club members of American Fork met to award achievement pins to those girls who had successfully completed the 4-H summer work. Extension Agent R H. Boswell and Miss Dorothy Stew art. home demonstrator were pres ent to make the awards. Barbara Taylor and Mildred Richards sang a duet and Mrs. Ben Wright spoke on the value of the 4-H club work in the community. Mrs. Marcelle Hawkins, who is the district 4-H club leader, was In charge of the meeting. It is hoped that next sea son a boy's 4-H club can be organ ized to help the boys of the com m unltv in the various branches of agriculture, 6tock and poultry rais ing and forestry. Children playing in the creek bed north of too Cobblestone staUon Saturday- night started one of the large tree togs on fire which have been used to protect the creek bank during high water. The high wind that night fanned the flames into a lively blaze and neighbors feared that they might spread and noti fied the fire department. The men responded and soon had the blaze extinguished. o School News MaxJne Taylor, Reporter The Beethoven club of the American Amer-ican Fork High School was organized organ-ized last week and plans mads for the ensuing year. This club Is the oldest club In the school having been started nine years ago and each year there are many students eager to "make the grade," so to speak, into Beethoven. The maxl mum membership is twenty and it is really quite an honor to be chosen as a member. The first meeting of the year was held at Wayne Booth's home last Thursday. The main purpose of this meeting was to Introduce the new members to "ways and why- fores." A short program took place after which we all took places at tables and played "Bunco." And did we enjoy ourselves? Yes. Later, lunch was served by Mrs Booth and Miss Cunningham. The program for the night in cluded Current Events by Affra Mc-NielL, Mc-NielL, lesson on Beethoven by Margaret Mar-garet Dunkley, vocal solo by Mack Cunningham, and remarks by Mr. Bird. The following officers were elected: Advisor, Mr. K. J. Bird; President, Wayne Booth; Vice pres ident, Zola Grant; Secretary, Max- ine Taylor.
