Nearly a score of hatcheries have been constructed or Improved at a total coat of approximately 1200,000, enabling the state department to Increase In-crease the number of fish to be planted throughout 1934 by several millions. Of the total expended tri an effort to make the Utah streams a fishing paradise, the federal government, gov-ernment, through the Works Pro gress Administration, contributed more than $190,000 In supplying employment em-ployment to hundreds of heads of families who were formerly on relief, re-lief, while the state spent around $50,000 for materials and supplies on the gigantic program. An outstanding improvement program pro-gram has been completed at the Sptingville hatchery in Utah county. The capacity of the rearing ponds has .been greatly increased while new ponds have been constructed.
