Fork Locals Miss Thelma Burton has been confined to her home for the past week suffering with a badly sprained sprain-ed ankle but is reported much Improved. Mrs. Eli B. Hawkins has returned to her home here after spending the winter months at the home of her daughter, Rebecca, at Burley, Idaho. On her way home she visited for a week with another daughter, Mrs. Effle Bailey of Downey, Idaho. Mrs. Ethel Brown and son. Don, were easter visitors in American Pork at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Pratt. Len Chlpman underwent an operation op-eration In the Holy Cross hospital In Salt Lake last Sunday for a ruptured appendix. Although still In a serious condition he was reported re-ported as holding his own and his many friends are anxiously waiting a speedy recovery. Those of American Pork attending attend-ing the funeral services of Mrs-Fred Mrs-Fred Starrs of Price on Sunday were Mayor and Mrs. Will Storrs, Mrs- Alton Storrs and George Storrs and Mr, and Mrs. Olen Stewart. Fred Storrs Is the son of George A. Storrs and a nephew of the Mayor and Bishop Storrs and Mrs. Al OLsen of this city. Mr. and Mrs L. Fork Mrs. Lillian Booth, daughter, Lucille, Merriam Young and Eli Clayson motored to Spanish Pork Saturday and spent the day with Dr. and Mrs. Allen O. Brockbank. Mr. and Mrs. Merlon Hatch are rejoicing over the arrival of a son on April 22nd at the family residence. Mother and baby are improving nicely. Mr. and Mrs, Rulon Peterson of Lehl, announce the arrival of a son on April 17th. Mrs. Peterson was formerly Miss June Lynch of this city. Miss Helois Paxman has been con fined at her home for the past week as a result of an infected tooth. Her many friends are wishing her a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Norvin L. Storrs and family of Salt Lake City visited vis-ited Sunday at the home of his parents, Bishop and Mrs. Joseph H. Storrs. Mrs. Byron Crooks-ton returned Sunday from Spring Canyon where she spent the past week visiting with her daughter, Lenore, who teaches in the high school there. High school and the only entry from thatschool In the Individual contest work at the music festival held in Provo last week, received a rating of High Superior on the piano and Excellent on the violin. Also, Miss Elaine Smith of this city, entered the piano contest being rated as Superior. Both girls are the piano students of Professor Elmer E. Nelson who teaches a class of pupils here and Miss Johnston studies the violin under un-der Professor LeRoy Robertson. Word has been received from Twin Falls, Idaho, that Will Wright is now an authorized radio operator, oper-ator, having received his radio-telephone first class license from toe Federal Communications Commission Commis-sion of Washington, D. C. on April 18th. For the past year Will has been a staff announcer at readio broadcasting station KTFT at Twin Falls- Miss Elaine Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie A. Smith, entered enter-ed the state piano contest at Provo last Thursday. She did herself cre dit by winning out in the Superior class. AJtho Miss Smith is only a Junior High school student she contested con-tested along with the High school students of the state. Mrs. Mae Halliday was hostess to the stake board members of the Y- M M. I. A. and some special guests at an attractive social at her home Wednesday night. A buffet buf-fet supper was served the tore-part tore-part of the evening then progressive games were played. Another interesting inter-esting event was the guessing of baby pictures, each guest having brought their own picture. Those of the board present were, Nora IngersolL Hannah Aydelotte, Leona Kelly, Alice Parker, Lottie Hammond, Ham-mond, Edith Thornton, Mable Nel- son, Eodla Roberts, Fern Preston, Haydee Iverson, Myrtle Seas t rand, Mable McNiel and Dessie Wilde- Lillian Booth, Betha Storrs and Mrs. A, B. Allen were special guests. Mrs. May Munsen of Idaho, visited here last week with her sisters, Mrs. James Julian and Mrs. Ann Green wood and brother, William Crystal. Barratt has been chosen as one of the 62 Junior members of the Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University of Utah who have been ordered to summer camp, June 2nd, at Port Francis E. Warren, on the outskirts of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Captain M L. Craig, second in command of the University unit, an. nounced last Friday. J. Max Walton who Is also a member of the R. O. T. C. will not enter training until next year. Clarice Bromley and Sylvia Shipley Ship-ley entertained at the Kosy club rooms Friday in honor of Mrs. Wallace Wall-ace Prince of Provo, a bride of the first part of April. Those attending were Doris Robinson of American Fork. Bell Webb, Jean Cox, Hazel Hicks, Maurlne Hicks, Jena Prince, Edna Draper, Clair Bullock, Orpha Robinson, Inez Jesse, Llla Bee be, Ora Bell Lentz, Mary Smith, Ella Pcny, Eva Provst and Mrs. Loosle of Provo, and LaPriel Chrlstensen of Salrm. An interesting evening of bridge was enjoyed and prizes awarded after which the guests were served at the small tables. Paul, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Miller, was unfortunate Saturday evening when he fell from a wagon and broke his left arm. Medical aid was summoned and the arm Is getting along nicely. Mr. David Shelley received word of the birth of a baby boy on Easter Sunday to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hunter of Pheonix, Arizona. Mrs. Hunter was formerly Miss Leona Shelley. Mrs. David Shelley is visiting visit-ing in Pheonix for a month. and Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Makin, Jr., motored to Provo canyon Easter Sunday and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Dick Miller. Mr. Miller is an operator at the Murdock power plant, .During. the day a group from Ogden and salt Lake City Joined the Makins at the Miller home each bringing a basket lunch.
