Fork Locals Fire destroyed a chicken coop in the rear of the A. B. Allen home Thursday Just before noon. Damage amounting to $50.00 was done by the fire since the small coop was entirely destroyed. Mrs. William M. Miller entertained entertain-ed a few friends at her home Monday Mon-day afternoon. In honor of Mrs. Vllate Clark who was her old cheol chum. Those present were: Mrs. Vllate Clark, Mrs. Eliza Buckwalter, Mrs. Ann L. Chlpman, Mrs. Maud Wild, Mrs. James H. Clarke. -Mr. - and-Mrs-. -Warren - Anderson Mr. and Mrs. -Fred Oheewr and daughters, Loralne and Beth, and Mrs. Anh'Cheever motored to Malad, Idaho, last Thursday and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Cheever. Mrs. Ann Cheever remained for a week's visit with her son and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Strong and two daughters of Salt Lake, and Mrs. LaVern Smldt of Burley, Idaho, Ida-ho, were visitors at the Irvln Makin home this week. Jesse .M. Walker continues to Improve Im-prove at his home after a serious Illness of spotted fever resulting from a tick bite which he received three weeks ago at Morgan. Complications Compli-cations set-in last week and for a few days Mr. Walker was very 111. His son. Klwood, was taken 111 the first of the week and for a short time it was feared he was suffering from the same disease but It was found he had a severe case of hives from which he has now recovered. and - Miss Edith Thornton have returned re-turned from a trip to the World's Fair. In addition to seeing all the marveLs this exposition offers they enjoyed visiting In Milwaukee and Racine, Wisconsin, with friends of Miss Thornton which she made while laboring as a missionary there several years ago. They also visited a big packing plant In Chicago and one of the large casket factories ! which Mr. Anderson, mortician, was particularly Interested In. Altogether Altogeth-er the trip was enjoyed every moment mo-ment by all three. ' Big Program at Saratoga July 4th Spend July 4th at Saratoga! This invitation comes from thi mamge- jment of this splendid resort which i has planned a program of entertain-! entertain-! mcnt throughout the day which will appeal to y :ung and old alike. The entertainment scheduled includes swimming end diving exhibitions ' during the day, children's races for j which cash prizes will be given; games of various kinds, and coin j showers in the plunges. Topping off the day's activities there will be a big holiday dance at nignt together with a bis free display of fireworks. The resort announces three big holiday "dances, July 3rd, at which time the special feature will be the well known Maori Bt's Trio and dancing will continue until 1 o'clock a. m. The Big July 4th Dance will be a cafnlvar "affair" with confetti and horns for everyone free. Th's dance also will continue until 1 a. m. On Saturday, July 7th, a free swim dance will be given and for every gents ticket purchased a free swim ticket will be given, good at either of the Saratoga plunges. Six Boy Scouts of the Third ward patrol accompanied by Assistant Scoutmaster, Hudson Gordon, spent last Friday and Saturday in Salt Lake In company with hundreds of other Scouts and their leaders of the Twelfth Region at the Scout icamporal held on the capitol grounds. The boys were given the privilege of attendance by having (won a place in the Alplns district icamporee and at the Timpanogos ! council meet. The Junior Literary League held a very instructive and entertaining meeting Monday night at the home of Mrs. Rulon Nlcholes: The program pro-gram was under the drecton of Mrs. Kenneth Noyes, and was the second of a series of faur of "The Influence of Environment in the Development of Types of Music", this program considering especially Indian music. Miss Nina Halliday gave a splendid talk, pointing out the difference between be-tween the types of real Indian music end the interpretations given by modern composers. Illustration was given the talk by two violin numbers played by Miss Ann Clayson, a vocal solo " My Birch Canoe" sung by Miss Mildred Chlpman and "The Waters of Mlnnetonka" rendered by Mrs. W. R. Halliday. The League will not meet regularly during July and August but In September will again resume the twice a month meetings. Two summer outings are planned ta be given between now and September. There were eighteen eigh-teen present at the meeting.
