C. ROBINtON, Mgr. AMERICAN FORK, UTAH Sunday evening, about 8 o'clock Ernest Ruthledge received a bad cut on the right leg when the glass of one door of the Ford coupe he was driving became broken. Mr. Rutledge was driving In Lehl when he struck a mud hole from which the car could not pull out. He procured the services of a man and team to assist him In freeing the car. . The team waa hitched to the car, the man driving, and Mr. Rut- ledge remained In the automobile.' ' The horses lunged forward and the Icrk broke the glass of the door. which in falling cut the right leg of Mr. Rutiedge. An artery waa severed. Mr. Rutledge was taken (6 the Lehl hospital where the wound was given attention and he remained there dur- tnglhe night. Monday he was brought to American Fork. The Injured leg Is doing well. - e- Dr. Harris Chosen as President of Timnanoflros Council of Boy Scouts Dr. F. S. Harrta of the B. Y. Jj. was made president of the Tlmnanoroa Council of Boy Scouta of America at a meeting held Tuesday last at the Chamber of Commerce In Provo. Dr. Harris succeeds Mr. John Smith who has held that office ninr tho zatlon of the council three years ago. and who Is now In California for his health. At this meeting It was , decided to bold a council meeting at the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University Wednesday evening, March 12, at 7:30 o'clock, to which- the boy "acouta, officers, acout-masters, acout-masters, courts of honor, and com mitteemen of the Timpanogos council are expected to be present. John and Joseph, and their daughter Sarah, together with the wife of Thomas and the- wife and four -child-ren of William, set eall on the ship Ellen Maria and after a royage of reyeral weeks landed at New Orleans, April 5. 1851. When near Mem phis Tenn. on April 13th Grandmother Grand-mother Shelley was drowned while at tempting to draw a bucket of water from the swift and turbulent stream. Upon reaching St. Louis, the Shel ley family, with the exception of William and hte wife and children, started across the plains by team for the abode of the Saints in the Rocky Mountains, where they arrived on the 3rd day of October. 18. William and his family came west the fo';o! ing year. In the fall of 1831 Grandfather Grand-father Shelley and a portion of the family moved down to American Fork, being among the earliest settlers of what was then known as Lake city. Other members came a year or so later and American Fork became the home of the Shelley family who have been associated with the upbuilding and growth of the commnnifv . civil, social and splirtual life. Grandfather Shelley took a later companion, la life, Mary-Bathgate.-being married December 21, 1856. He died at American Fork. Novem ber 19. 1870. in his- 79th yenr. J Commercial Club Banauet and Dance Big' Success The biggest and best 'social staged here in months, Is the Vay many felt at the close of the Commercial Club manquet given In the Tabernacle Thursday evening in honor of the retiring re-tiring officers and the new officers, who are taking their places. The entire en-tire affair waa arranged by a committee com-mittee of club members of which Otis Cheney was chairman. "At " eight vo'clock" the banquet was served to about two hundred guests. the catering being under the manace- ment of. Messrs. Jackson and Iverson managers of the popular J. and I. Cafe. G. A. Anderson was ' toast-master toast-master of the occasion and ably handled the position. Toasts were re sponded to by retiring President H. S. Rasmuasen, who toasted the past accomplishments ac-complishments of the club; Clifford E. Young, who told of the necessity for such a club, and President James H. Clarke, who toasted the future accomplishments. ac-complishments.
