Show Gearing Up for Homecoming week The football team's strinirof win. ning continued Friday night with a huge victory over the Orem Tigers. Caueman Corner By GINGER HANSEN The Cavemen came out on top with a score of 13-7 and hundreds of Cavemen fans left with the sweet taste of victory, as well as a cupcake in their mouths. As many of you know, nineyears ago some of the A.F. football players play-ers received cupcakes from their coaches as an incentive to win. They were told they could eat their treats when they beat the Tigers, and after nine years of being unable to do that, some of them still have their cupcakes. Hearing this, the Student Body Officers along with the help of the cheerleaders, predicted a Cavemen victory and made hundreds of cupcakes cup-cakes that were promised to the football players and fans in the event we should win the game. We succeeded, and the cupcakes went fast. American Fork is gearing up for Homecoming week which begins Monday Sept. 28 and runs through Oct. 2. Homecoming week is one of the most exciting of the entire year and the most popular activities for the students take place. For example, "A Mighty Caveman Cave-man Lives Here," is the game designed de-signed to get everyone to answer their phone using this phrase, and when an SBO calls you, you win a prize if you answer your phone cor Marching band The marching band season for American Fork High School has now officially begun. Another favorite is "Phantom Caveman", when you find the spirit poem and a red object mysteriously left on your doorstep, you put an A.F. sign in your window to show you'vereceivedit, then secretly pass it on to two other unsuspecting Cavemen. By the end of the week, hundreds hun-dreds of students have A.F.'s in their windows and the excitement is intense. These games begin next week, so be ready to get involved. Along with the games, royalty voting will take place this coming week, so if there is someone you really think should be Homecoming Homecom-ing royalty, be ready to nominate them. Your chance is coming up on Sept. 25 to vote for your favorite. Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on Sept. 24 from 3-10 p.m. This is a change from last year when there were two days for these conferences. Thursday is the only day they will be held so be sure to make time to come visit the teach- ers. The famous night pep-rally will be on Tuesday night, Sept. 29, at 6:30 p.m. on the soccer field. This is an excellent way to get the spirit of the school up, and unite the student stu-dent body in preparation for the Homecoming game. The Powder-Puff football game is coming up on Wednesday Sept. 30 on the football field. School will be excused early for this special girls football event and we encourage encour-age everyone to come watch. It's very entertaining and this year will also be beneficial. We are asking everyone to pay 50 cents to get into the game and all the money will be donated to the Jason Burton fund.
