Show KENNECOTT TO SHUT DOWN AUG. 18 FORMATION Operations of the Utah Copper Division of Kennecott- Copper Corporation will shut down Monday, Mon-day, August 18, in the inauguration inaugura-tion of an annual divisdon-wide tiwo-week vacation period. In announcing tihe new mass vacation sclwdule, F. C. Green, general manager, said the division divis-ion was following a pattern long established in the copper and brass indiistry and many other industries as well. The new vacation schedule will eliminate many difficulties encountered in past years by both the company and employees in scheduling individual vacation periods, he said. The division will resume its present four-day operating week on Tuesday, September 2, following follow-ing the Labor Day holiday. A few employees will be required to work during the period. They will mainly consist of maintenance mainten-ance employees plus some staff personnel. The vacation shut-down will also afford an opportunity for crews to install new ore dumper equipment at the Utah Magna Mill, Mr. Green added. The equipment can only be installed during shut-down periods, it was explained. O |
