She also has six other children conceived through costly in vitro procedures. What are your : thoughts? Did her doctors act ethically in implanting multiple embryos in a 33-year-old woman who already had six children? Should taxpayers be left with burden to support her 14 children, whose medical delivery -costs alone last month for the octuplets were more than $1 mjllion? She has six other kids on food stamps? How is she going to pay for day care? She's never going to work . I think the doctor should be held accountable. Make him pay the child support." I Cvnlhiu Muri'tm 3e iifk i rfi?)i "I guess I'd say is wasn't the doctors' decision. I question where she got the funds (for the treatments). It's from our welfare dollars. Is that a hole in the welfare system? Again there's something amiss with the taxpayers paying for that. If she wants to get a job ..." tRuthBurt "My own opinion is that 1 think it's strange she would want 14 kids without a family. fam-ily. Obviously it's appropriate I feel that children should be raised in a home with a father and mother. I do feel that 14 kids in a home without a father and living with her parents you should have a way to support them and provide an emotionally and physically stable home." i Surah Briggs "How did she afford it (the fertilization treatments? Ridiculous. Ri-diculous. They the doctors should make sure they do this with a family. That's what 1 thought the idea was. The babies are innocent children. I don't think we taxpayers should support her in any way, but we should take care of the kids. We really have no options." op-tions." I Ray Garver Do You Have A Hearing Loss? I work at a youth home, and there's lot of kids coming from troubled lives, but I don't believe their lives are ruined. No, if she paid for it, the doctors didn't act unethically. I'm not going to blame her. People are unaware un-aware where the money for the treatments came from." I Jonathan Tingey "She's irresponsible. No, it's not ethical because he the fertility doctor has done the same thing in Louisiana where a woman had octuplets. 1 think he's being investigated. Yeah it's unfair to the taxpayers. tax-payers. That's why she's being investigated. It's selfishness." I Joann Campbell 'In vitro is a really bad idea especially for couples that already al-ready have a good amount of children. I've seen couples use these and end tip with more than twins. Unethical? No. 1 think the doctors were doing their job and the parents wanted want-ed the procedure done. Personally, Person-ally, yes, I think government should help out a family in need. My own family had help for many years. At the same time, I don't think taxpayers should have that burden of supporting her 14 children." I Ryan Morris "No. 1 don't think the doctors doc-tors acted unethically. 1 think it was a fluke situation. She thought of the embryos as living and that they should have a life. They do this all the time take multiple em- bryos, because some of them don't make it. How was she supposed to choose between them? To critique her and her doctors is stupid and after the fact. What's the point? I think everybody has a different set of circumstances." If you can take care of your children, great. Yes, I think the doctors acted unethically. 1 don't think it's Very fair. People who have children we have children and we dori't have medical insurance in-surance we pay for that ourselves, our-selves, out of our own pockets. It's one thing wanting a child, but it just seems to come down to if can she take care of that many children? That should be a responsible part of planning." I Mirissa Rowley I think it s a little crazy , being single and unemployed. If she were single and had someone to help her care for , the children and could afford It herself, that would be another thing. I do feel the doctors acted unethically, front what t heard on the news, they fertility specialists are not supposed to implant more than two embryos in a woman her ; age. It's not fair or appropri-" ; ate for taxpayers to pay for , ' her children. If you can afford 14 children, great, I'm all fitf-it? but not at the expense of sbttie one else."
