However you do it, it's time to fire up the grill. My husband chooses to be the master "griller" in our home. I always know that if my husband is grilling the meat, that I should buy extra. His idea of seeing if the meat is done or not, is not by using a temperature gage, but by cutting into the food every time he turns it and "testing it by mouth" to see if it is done or not. I let him have this privilege, because I can see that it makes him feel "manly" and important. impor-tant. I have to give him the satisfaction that he can cook. Even though we have completely com-pletely different ideas on what cooking is. My husband's idea of cooking cook-ing is throwing any kind of meat on the grill and having perfectly placed char marks on the food when it is finished. But I can kill two birds with one stone by letting him grill the dinner, while boosting his self-confidence self-confidence that he can cook. So you've got a grill, what should you cook? There are tons of great barbecue recipes out there. I have found that you can put anything on the grill and end up with a masterpiece. mas-terpiece. We could get down to the basics of barbecuing and start out with saying that you must have a perfect cut of meat to put on the grill, you must marinate your food overnight, over-night, cook your meat to a certain cer-tain temperature and season it just perfectly. But let's cut to the chase and simply say turn the grill on, turn up the heat and grill away! Try tossing your favorite veggies in a bit of olive oil and placing seasoning on them. Wrap them tightly in two lay 3t !,r : news There will be a Memorial Day program on May 23 at 1 1 a.m. at the Senior Friendship Center, 93 N. 400 East, Orem. You also should try placing potatoes that have been cut up into 12-inch cubes into a bowl of melted butter. Toss with cornflake corn-flake crumbs and the bbq rub recipe. Then place them in two layers of tin foil, tightly sealed and again spray the outside of the foil with cooking spray and place on the grill. These potatoes pota-toes will take about 30 minutes min-utes on medium heat to cook depending on how many you have in each packet of foO. I would suggest placing two medium me-dium sized potatoes in each foil packet. Turn half way through the cooking process. I want to thank Sherry from Highland for sharing the barbecue bar-becue rub recipe with us. It is amazing on chicken, beef and veggies. Sherry says, "My husband hus-band uses the grill and cooks on it more than any of our other family members. He believes be-lieves no one can do it as well as he can. The only way I can get my two cents in, is by placing plac-ing the meat rub on the meat before it leaves the kitchen...." Sherry, I will definitely keep this recipe in the front of my recipe box! Sherry did not name the recipe, so I will simply name it "Sherry's BBQ Rub." I can be reached at emi-lymarloweconnect2.com emi-lymarloweconnect2.com I would love to share more of your summer recipes with our readers.
