The fraud came to light when the victim in California was notified by his bank that someone some-one was attempting to use his personal information to obtain a credit card right then at Best Buy. The victim called Best Buy to report the fraud; Best Buy called the police. Officers arrived and identified 24-year-old Dimitri Hughes, of Shreveport, La., as the man trying try-ing to obtain the credit using a false name. He was apparently still in the store trying to figure out what the buy on the bogus credit account. When he was approached by officers, he ran T7 --wr.! Hughes was booked into the Utah County jail on charges of identity fraud, forgery, disorderly conduct possession of stolen property (California ID Card), and failure to stop at the command of a police officer. GANG GRAFFITI ARRESTS - A witness saw four juvenile boys spray painting the side of a building build-ing near 400 N. Main on Sunday morning, April 27. A fourth boy saw the officers speaking with his three friends and ran from the store to KFC across the parking lot Officers followed and found the boy in the restroom furiously trying to scrub the telltale signs of blue spray paint from his hands. The boys were from Provo, American Fork, and two from Orerri. They ranged in ages from 13 to 16 years. One of the boys was somewhat repentant after being caught and showed officers offi-cers 12 locations where they had tagged their gang moniker STG 13 (South Town Gangsters). All four boys were booked into the Slate Canyon Detention Facility on multiple counts of criminal mischief. Viehweg was seen at 5 p.m. driving southbound at 600 North State Street weaving back and forth between two lanes of traffic, causing traffic to become be-come backed up. Sgt Theron Learry, driving the opposite direction direc-tion on State, saw Viehweg and pulled around to make the traffic stop. Viehweg spotted Sgt Leany and took off, going south on State, west on 400 North, north on Orem Blvd. and then pulled into a business parking lot and ducked down between two parked cars. Sgt Leany managed to spot Viehweg hiding there and when he approached, Viehweg took off again on his motorcycle. Sgt Leany pulled off of the pursuit pur-suit because of the time of day and potential for injury to others. Viehweg was seen a short time later driving northbound on 1200 West by Officer Scott Spieth. Viehweg pulled over. Viehweg admitted that he had evaded Sgt Leany and told Officer Of-ficer Spieth that had he not been so surprised by Officer Spieth behind him, he would have run again. "I guess I was just being dumb" Viehweg reportedly told the officers. He was arrested for 3rd degree felony evading and booked into the Utah County Jail. Bail was in the amount of $5000. WARRANT SERVICE - 39-year-old Shandy Winterton, of Orem was taken into custody at her home the night of April 22, pursuant to five warrants being be-ing issued for her arrest including includ-ing one felony warrant for forging a prescription and two misdemeanor misde-meanor warrants for assault She was booked into the Utah County jail. DRUG ARREST 26-year-old Sarah Sheehan, of Orem, was stopped Officer Scott Rich just after Midnight on Wednesday morning, April 23, because she was driving a car on Main Street without working head or tail lights. When en route to the jail, Sheehan Shee-han began to exhibit symptoms characteristic of methamphet-amine methamphet-amine use. She became excited and wouldn't stop talking and couldn't sit still at the jail. She confided in Officer Rich that she had just used meth before the traffic stop was made and that she really needed to quit using drugs. Officer Rich agreed that would be an excellent idea. Sheehan then told Officer Rich that she had something for him. She ceremoniously stood up and pulled a plastic bag of from her bra and threw it at the officer. No sooner did Officer Rich have a chance to identify the contents of the bag as methamphetamine, than Sarah Sheehan demanded the baggie back and commenced trying to wrest it from him.
