Show Thursday, February 8, 2007 0 R E M TIMES Page 5 notes NEWS AND IDEAS FROM CLASSROOMS AND EDUCATORS Timpanogos to hold 'Mr. and Ms. T' showcase Reva Bowen NORTH COUNTY STAFF There will be a "T" title for two, after Timpanogos High School holds its "Mr. & Ms. T" showcase tonight at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Theme for the evening is "A Night at the Oscars." Os-cars." Cost of admission is $1. Eight young men and eight young women all seniors, nominated by clubs, sports teams, and organizations at the school and winners of a preliminary round of lunchtime voting will compete for the honor of being named Mr. T or Ms. T. The contest is being held in WINDSOR ELEMENTARY REFLECTIONS WINNERS t-wolf wyaii rriT Hey everybody. It's another day in the life of some very busy high school students. Tonight is the Mister and Ms. T showcase. You should know that you'll be required to support the showcase with a donation of $1 if you choose to attend (i.e. it costs one buck to get in). But don't be put-off by this mandatory donation; it's definitely worth your dollar. I'm willing to put my honor on the line by saying that you'll Residents, Dale Nicol and Florence Peterson, bowling on an outing with Orchard Park Care Center. The honor is comparable to being named a member of Homecoming Home-coming royalty, she said. The competitors have been randomly teamed as pairs, and given the assignment to prepare a 30-second video, and talent performances in a given genre of the Academy Awards. The competing teams and their assigned categories are: Clayton Barney and Alexis HoUister, best drama; Austin enjoy the showcase more than anything on the "super-value menu" at Wendy's. No jeans and no "Genes." We're trying to make the showcase a bigger deal than it has been in the past. Because of this you can't wear jeans to the showcase. That means that boys must wear either slacks or kilts and girls must wear either skirts or... er... I don't know anything about girl's pants. Also, I'm making up the rule of no people named Gene. I figure, fig-ure, if you're actually named "Gene," you're probably too old to be anybody's dad in the showcase. And if you're a teenager, teen-ager, you probably have much cooler parties to go to (considering (consid-ering your name). Although the candidates compete as couple teams, the ultimate winners will not necessarily neces-sarily be a team, Peterson said. In addition to showing their movies and talents in tonight's showcase, the competitors will answer an on-stage ques Don't get me wrong, I like the name Gene. I even like you, Gene. But... you know what? Never mind. I really do like you. Gene. In fact, if you come to the showcase, I'll take you to Wendy's after and you get anything you want. So long as what you want is on "super-value "super-value menu." In the end, Wendy's is delicious deli-cious and economical whether your name is Gene, Wyatt or Kaleanoni. Wendy's selection of healthy and carefully prepared pre-pared food is sure to be a delight de-light to anyone. And, believe it or not, they're not even paying me for this. Also, their drive-through drive-through is very fast. E-mail me: wyattfeltgmail. com a D8NDRBSiL tion and receive scores from a three-judge panel. The showcase show-case score counts as 45 percent of the final score. The results of a second round of student voting will count 40 percent, and the remaining 15 percent comes from contest participation, participa-tion, Peterson said. An example ex-ample of quality participation would be being on time to all rehearsals. "The clubs and organizations organiza-tions have nominated people who attend events and support the school," said Peterson. She confirmed that the judges will be looking for those who stand out or "shine" under the Mr. and Ms. T competition format.
