The cast's talent is not limited to Bench alone, however. Drama teacher Nathan Criman said, "The potential in this cast exceeds that of the past. There is a lot of ability on this stage. I know a few of them plan on majoring in the performing per-forming arts in college." Among those college-bound actors and actresses are the four lead actors: Alex Sousa, Cameron Asay, Chase Brown, and Bench. A senior girl, Anas-tasha Anas-tasha Blakely, recently attended a scholarship schol-arship audition in the hopes of attending Southern Utah University. Criman said, "They have the ability (to) do professional profes-sional work right away." "Acting is all about the way you work with other people," Bench said of his passion. "(It) is transcended through all other aspects of your life." "(It) gives you the opportunity to experience what it's like to be another person for two hours at a time," added Brown, who plays Dromio of Ephesus, Asay's twin and Sousa's slave - a far cry from his portrayal of the Beast. "You have to take the words ... and decide de-cide who the person is." For Sousa, who played Mr. Cog-sworth Cog-sworth last November but now has the role of Bench's identical twin, this is the biggest challenge. "It took us 18 years to develop our personalities, and we have to come up with one in a month." Asay, who lit up the stage as the beloved Lumiere, now humors the audience audi-ence as Dromio of Syracuse, Bench's slave, with his comical gestures and bril liant expressions. "These are remarkable students," said Hansmann, "(They're) very fun kids." Criman is convinced of their ability abil-ity to pull off what is considered by many to be one of Shakespeare's most challenging plays. "They have to be perfect. That is the tradition here at Mountain View," he asserted before assuring that the cast would be completely com-pletely ready by the Monday before opening night. Of course, he has a reason to be so confident. The members of Criman's cast consistently win at Shakespearean Shakespear-ean acting competitions. According to junior Lisa Aston, who plays Adriana, the wife of Antipholus of Ephesus, "Mr. Criman is an awesome director. He understands Shakespeare and makes it easy for others to understand." under-stand." As for the play itself, Bench said, "(The Comedy of Errors) is Shakespeare's Shake-speare's best comedy. It's really compact, com-pact, nonstop, (and) hilarious. It's got the slapstick humor and the really intellectual intellec-tual (wordplay)." The play will show at the Mountain View High School auditorium, 645 W. Center Street in Orem, tonight through Saturday and Monday at 7 p.m. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. Running time is approximately 90 minutes. Admission for the general public is $5.
