He's 100 percent accurate." Cathy Keller, assistant librarian, said Matt is "a delight." "Matt is enjoyable to have around. He comes in and knows exactly what to do, and does it." Keller said. Matt's mom, Karen, said that her son could read when he was three years old and has demonstrated skill at alphabetizing alphabet-izing and doing numeric tasks. "With everything he does, it's important impor-tant for him to do it right," she said. At parent -teacher conferences, Don and Karen Fairchild suggested that the librarians give their son a daily checklist of assignments to work on, and the system sys-tem has worked very well, Olson said. His alphabetizing and academic skills are very good," Figueira said of Matt. Matt said his favorite class in school is P.L. He enjoys working on the computer and playing video games. Karen said her son has sung in the sch(X)l choir and is a movie buff, with a great memory for actors' names. He enjoys basketball, Special Olympics competition, track, softball, volleyball, and bowling. Matt is working toward becoming an Eagle Scout. HIGH Sub for Santa drive The Orem Jr. High Student Council hopes it can help Santa this year with its annual Sub-for-Santa drive. Years past have not disappointed, dis-appointed, often yielding thousands of dollars during five-day collection drives. All proceeds go directly to needy Orem Jr. High families, said Derek Rentz, student council advisor, and are given in the form of gift cards so Santa can shop at major retail outlets when deciding what each family fam-ily needs. SHARON ELEMENTARY Awarness for club programs Sharon Elementary is raising rais-ing awareness for community commu-nity support for before- and after-school club programs. SUNCREST ELEMENTARY School choir to perform Suncrest Elementary's school choir, comprised of students in third through sixth grades, will be performing in the coming days.
