Show Thursday, October 6, 2005 NORTH COUNTY NEWSPAPERS PoliceBeat SELECTED INCIDENTS Alpine Highland FRAUD - An Alpine resident contacted police regarding an Internet fraud that took place in another state. A courtesy report was taken and forwarded to the police department where the crime occurred. BURGLARY - A stereo was reported stolen from a vehicle parked near Lone Peak High School in Highland. FIRE ASSIST - Officers responded to a pallet fire at the Alpine Rodeo Grounds. Persons responsible for the fire were located at the scene, and advised they could not have a fire at that location. Fire personnel quickly extinguished the fire. THEFT Several tools and building build-ing materials were reported stolen from a construction site in the southwest area of Highland. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT - Police were dispatched on a report of a man dressed in black clothing jumping out of the bushes and scaring children. The subject made no physical contact with the children. chil-dren. The incident occurred in the Highland portion of the Cedar Hills golf course. Attempts to locate the individual were negative. American Fork PRESCRIPTION FRAUD - A 26 year-old woman was arrested for forging a prescription. The woman had gone to a local drug store to fill a prescription. After observing the prescription the pharmacist became suspicious and observed it had been altered. The woman was arrested and stated she had forged it. Officers also located several sev-eral other forged prescriptions in her possession. DISORDERLY CONDUCT Two 16-year-old boys were cited for disorderly conduct after they engaged in a fight. INTOXICATION - A 43 year-old man was arrested for intoxication. Officers received a report of a man who was sitting in a vehicle hunched over. They found that the man was extremely intoxicated and could not stand on his own. CHILD ABUSE - A 46 year-old man was arrested for child abuse after officers responded to a report that he had hit his 7-year-old son several times in the face. The child had redness and swelling on his face. ALCOHOLDRUGS - An 18-year-old was cited for illegal consumption of alcohol and a 20-year-old was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. vio-lation. The officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana and then found that 18-year-old had consumed con-sumed alcohol. The vehicle was searched and a pipe commonly used for smoking marijuana was found. AGGRAVATED ASSAULT - A 33-year-old man was arrested for aggravated assault, domestic violence. Officers were called to a report of a fight and the assault of a woman. The man was intoxicated intoxi-cated and got into an argument with his wife. During the argument he hit her in the face several times and tried to choke her. He then grabbed a beer bottle and struck her in the head. The woman was able to get away and run to a neighbors home and they called the police. Officers arrived but the suspect had fled the scene. The man turned himself into the police department the following day. The woman was taken to the hospital and treated and released. She sustained sus-tained cuts and bruises. RETAIL THEFT - A 24 year-old woman was cited for retail theft and a 22-year-old woman was cited for trespassing. The two women had entered a local business. busi-ness. ALCOHOL PROBLEM - A 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old woman were cited for illegal consumption of alcohol by minors and a 24-year-old man was cited for contributing to the delinquency of minors. Officers responded to a report of a noise disturbance and loud music at a residence. During the investigation they found that the women were under age and had consumed alcohol. The 24-year-old man was the owner of the residence. Cedar Hills WARRANTS - A 27-year-old man was arrested for three outstanding out-standing arrest warrants and possession pos-session of a controlled substance in a drug-free-zone. A 35-year-old woman was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant. An officer stopped a vehicle for disturbing dis-turbing the peace. He observed a passenger of the vehicle that he recognized and knew had an outstanding out-standing arrest warrant. He found that the woman passenger also had a outstanding arrest warrant. The man was searched incident to arrest and found to be in possession posses-sion of a controlled substance. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE - Officers responded to a report of a family fight. An argument started between two siblings and then escalated. Eagle Mountain WEAPONS OFFENSE - Officers found two dove hunters shooting within city limits on Sept. 10. The hunters were told to go to an unincorporated unin-corporated area outside city limits. TRAFFIC ACCIDENT - A car struck an antelope on Pony Express Parkway at Unity Pass on Sept. 10. The accident resulted in minor injuries to an adult passenger passen-ger and damage to the vehicle's front windshield and side mirror. Police are cautioning drivers to watch out for wildlife on roads. Lehi BURGLARY - Police received a report of a residential burglary where personal belongings were stolen, including cash, oxycontin and xanax. CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE PROBLEM A woman was booked into the Utah County Jail on a warrant and possession of methamphetamine in a drug-free-zone. A man was booked into jail on warrants and possession of heroin in a drug-free-zone. THEFT Several musical instruments, instru-ments, a diamond pendant necklace, neck-lace, pearl earrings, a Dell laptop computer, an electric amplifier, and a tri-fold wallet were reported stolen sto-len from a residence. ASSAULT A bus driver for special spe-cial needs individuals was attacked by one of the clients while driving the vehicle. The bus driver used physical force to subdue the client, resulting in injuries to the client. Further investigation has revealed that the bus driver was most likely acting in self-defense. Orem AUTO BURGLARS ARRESTED A witness called the department depart-ment early Friday morning and said he saw two men take a stereo out of some bushes near a business at 1875 South State and put it inside a coat. Officers located the two suspects in the area. They were on stolen bicycles and had committed auto burglaries burglar-ies in Orem and Provo. A 16-year-old Orem boy was turned over to Provo Police to identify the cars that had been entered in Provo and Orem. WARRANT ARREST - Officers responded to a reported family fight in the area of 600 W. 1200 N. and found a man beating his car with a golf club. He had boon angry after his wife assaulted him. The wife was cited for domestic violence and the husband was arrested for a first dogree felony drug warrant. He was booked into the Utah County jail. GONE PED A go ped became a gone ped for a short time Friday when it left unlocked in the Orem High School parking lot. It was later recovered down the street where it had been dumped. BURGLARY A woman living in the Pinnacle Apartments reported that someone came into her apartment apart-ment Sunday night through an unlocked door and stole her lap top computer. She heard someone come in at about 11 p.m. while she was in her bedroom, but thought it was another roommate. A short time later, she discovered the miss ing computer. VANDALISM - A block wall at 700 N. Orem Blvd was spray paint ed with the words, "Lil Casper" sometime in the past several days. THEFT A motorized scooter was stolen Tuesday night from the front of a business located at 44 West Center Street. The owner had gone into the business for 30 minutes and returned to find the scooter missing. Pleasant Grove ASSAULT A juvenile was arrested for a simple assault of a school employee that took place on property of Rocky Mountain Elementary School. ALCOHOL OFFENSEASSAULT Two women were arrested for illegal consumption of alcohol alco-hol after police responded to an assault incident. The suspect m the assault was later located and cited for simple assault. Contact was made with two child suspects who admitted to causing the damage. The reporting party did not want to press charges, instead parents of the children wore to be contacted, and compensation worked out. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - Two arrests were made for criminal mischief following police response to a possible !urglary in process. TRAFFIC OFFENSE - An officer patrolling in the area of 400 West and 300 South in Lindon viewed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped and drugs and drug paraphernalia found. The driver was arrested for various charges including speed ing, carrying a concealed weapon and released. Marijuana, paraphernalia parapher-nalia and a Glock 19 pistol were taken into evidence. DRIVING UNDER THE-INFLUENCE THE-INFLUENCE - An arrest was made for DUI after officers investigated inves-tigated an accident in which a truck hit a home. The vehicle was impounded. THEFT - A Weld Mart welder valued at $500 was reported stolen from a tiuck parked at a residence. THEFT - Seven boxes of vinyl siding was reported stolen from a Pleasant Grove business. THEFT - A Titan generator val ued at $4,000 was stolen from a truck parked at construction site in Pleasant Grove THEFT - A caller reported his two four wheelers and the trailer were stolen from a business parking park-ing lot in Lindon. Oik: of the four-wheelers four-wheelers was recovered by the Utah County Sheriffs Office, The other vehicle and the trailer are still missing.
