Brian and Marsha Ryder of Oregon are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Stephanie Hadley to Eric Lee Maughan, son of David and Susan Su-san Maughan of Highland. The couple exchanged vows in the Logan LDS Temple on June 14, 2005. The bride is a graduate of Springville High School. She also graduated from UVSC and will attend the University of Utah this fall. The groom is a graduate of Lone Peak High School. He served a mission to the Spokane Washington Mission and will also be attending the University of Utah this fall. Stinson has graduated from basic ba-sic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, organi-zation, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Stinson is the son of Rich-ard Rich-ard Stinson of Orem. . The airman is a 1996 graduate grad-uate of Orem High School. ' 'j 1.-1 V Hansen, Makechnie David & Debi Hansen of American Ameri-can Fork are delighted to announce the marriage of their daughter Kim-berly, Kim-berly, to Glenn K. Makechnie, son of Arthur and Heather Makechnie of Andover, New Hampshire. Kim and Glenn will be married June 21, 2005 in the Salt Lake Temple, Tem-ple, with a reception that evening at the American Fork amphitheater from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Kim is a graduate of American Fork High School and is currently a senior at Brig ham Young University Univer-sity working on a theater education degree with a minor in Spanish education. Glenn graduated from Proctor Academy and served two years in the Bolivia Santa Cruz mission. He is working on a Psychology degree at Brigham Young University and is a goalie on the BYU Lacrosse team. Warnick 60th Stephen and Nelda Warnick recently celebrated their 60th wedding wed-ding anniversary with a family dinner. Married June 13, 1945, they have seven children, 28 grandchildren and almost 11 great-grandchildren. Stephen has a BS and MS from Brigham Young University and a PhD from the University of Utah. He worked 20 years as a Toxicolo-gist Toxicolo-gist at the Utah State Health Laboratory Labo-ratory and Intermountain Laboratory. Labora-tory. Nelda has a BA from Brigham Young University and, in addition to raising the family, worked 20 years at the Utah State Training School as Director of Education. They have enjoyed serving in the LDS church, including a mission to Washington DC in 1990. Including in-laws, 18 members of their family have also served LDS missions. They have also enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states, Europe, Canada Cana-da and Mexico, and taking several cruises with their family. They are proud of their family and especially happy to have four of their children living next to them on their family farm in Manila. Despite Nelda having Parkinson's Disease, they say life has been very good to them and they look forward for-ward to a few more years together, and then eternity. Maher graduates basic training Army National Guard Spec. Caleb C. Maher is a member of the 48th Brigade Combat Team who recently participated in one of the most realistic scenarios offered by the U.S. Army at the National Training Center (NTQ, Fort Irwin, Calif. The National Guard soldier is a member of Alpha Company, 133rd Signal Battalion based in Crestwood. The NTC, located in southern California in the Mojave Desert, is the premier combat training center for desert warfare. Its rugged terrain ter-rain and environment provide a realistic and grueling test for troops of the 48th Brigade Combat Team in preparation for deployments to Iraq. Soldiers honed their warfight-ing warfight-ing skills through f orce-on-f orce simulated combat scenarios in the tactical environment. The 48th Brigade Combat Team, headquartered in Macon, Ga., is comprised of 31 units in Georgia and six units from other states with a combined total strength of more than 4,000 soldiers. Maher, a multi-channel transmission transmis-sion systems operator-maintainer with five years of military service, is the son of Roger D. and Camille L. Maher of Lehi. His wife, Christie, is the daughter of Terri and Cheryl Conner of Ina, 111. He graduated in the year 2000 from Mascoutah High School 111 GOING ON VACATION? For more information call 344-2923 Jones, Lye Barbie Jones of American Fork is pleased to announce the forthcoming forthcom-ing marriage of her daughter Courtney Court-ney M. Jones to Karl D. Lye, son of David and Gina Lye. Courtney is also the daughter of the late Wayne R. Jones. The couple will exchange vows at the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 17, 2005. A reception will be held in their honor that same evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 700 W. 500 N., American Fork. The bride-to-be is a graduate of American Fork High School She is currently a senior at the University of Utah majoring in Nursing and working as a there nursing student intern. The prospective groom is a graduate of American Fork High School. He is currently working as a nursing assistant and will attend the University of Utah in the fall. The couple will make their first home in Sugarhouse. Matthew Rogers Matthew Eccles Rogers is the son of Dr. Mark and Gainell Rogers of Lindon. He will receive his Eagle Scout Award June 18, 2005. He is a member of troop 889 sponsored by the Lindon 9th Ward. For his eagle project he built benches for the amphitheater at Aspen As-pen Lake Girl's Camp. The project required more than 400 volunteer hours from both youth and leaders in his trcop. Matt attended summer sum-mer and winter scout camps and completed Timberline training. He is going to the 2005 National Jamboree Jambo-ree at Fort AP Hill in Virginia this summer where he will serve as a Patrol Leader. Matt attended Oak Canyon Junior Ju-nior High where he maintained a 3.9 GPA and will be attending Pleasant Grove High School this fall. He plays the piano, organ and trombone. He loves to ride horses and is currently making his own saddle. Matt enjoys all sports but he especially loves to golf, and water and snow ski. Matthew now joins his brothers and father as an Eagle Scout. Craig Meiners Craig is the son of Make and Holly Meiners of Lindon. He will receive his Eagle Scout Award on June 18, 2005. He is a member of troop 889 sponsored by the I jndon 9th Ward. Craig's Eagle Project was to help plan, advertise and carry out a Safety Fair at Lindon Elementary. His scout troop ran the fingerprinting fingerprint-ing booth at the fair. Craig just finished 8th grade at Oak Canyon Junior High. He was a member of the Junior Nationals Honor Society, the track team and president of the men's choir. He enjoys en-joys sports, fishing and reading. Craig now joins all his brothers as an Eagle Scout. 2ttilii4Hrraia 0v Editor's note: Several Scouts from north Utah County will attend the 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree at Fort A P. Hill in Virginia. The Scouts will depart July 23 and return on Aug. 9. Here is a look at one of the Scouts who will participate in this national event. Joey Clements, 15-year-old son of Vicki Clements and grandson of Claire L Hemsley, both of American Fork, for over a year has been preparing prepar-ing for the 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree. In addition to the National Jamboree, the local participants partici-pants will have an extended tour of national and LDS Church historical sites. As a member of Jamboree Troop 2055, Joey is one of Riley Riley Smith, 14-year old son of Scott and Lisa Smith of Cedar Ce-dar Hills, for over a year has been preparing for the 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree. In addition to the National Jamboree, the local participants partici-pants will have an extended tour of national and LDS Church historical sites. As a member of Jamboree Troop 2055, Riley is one of eight Scouts in the Pink Panther Pan-ther Patrol. A Life Scout, Riley plans to earn his Eagle Scout rank prior to the Jamboree. As an eighth-grader at Mountain Ridge School, Riley maintains a 3.7 GPA. His fa Jared Jared Skinner, 16-year-old son of Renn and Cheryl Daniels Dan-iels of Alpine, for over a year has been preparing for the 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree. Jam-boree. In addition to the National Jamboree, the local participants partici-pants will have an extended tour of national and LDS Church historical sites. As a member of Jamboree Troop 2055, Jared is one of the key boy leaders with the positions posi-tions of assistant patrol leader, troop chaplain, and troop scribe. An Eagle Scout, Jared has his Bronze Palm, his Gold Palm, his Silver Palm, his double Bronze Palm, his double Gold Palm, and double Silver Palm. As a sophomore at Lone Peak High School, Jared main Taylor Taylor Allen, the 13-year-old son of Mark and Michele Allen of Orem, for over six months has been preparing for the 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree. In addition to the National Jamboree, the local participants will have an extended tour to national and LDS Church historical sites. As a member of Jamboree Troop 2055, Taylor is one of eight Scouts in the Pedros Patrol. Taylor became a First Class Scout in rank when he passed the Board of Review in April. He has served as quartermaster and Is now Cameron Comer Cameron Comer, the 1 1-y 1-y ear-old son of Kyle and Janene Comer of Lehi, for more than six months has been preparing for the 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree. In addition to the National Jamboree, the local participants will have an extended tour to national and LDS Church historical sites. As a member of Jamboree Troop 2055, Cameron is one of eight Scouts in the Timber Wolf Patrol. A First Class Scout, Cameron plans to earn his Star Scout rank prior to the Jamboree. Cameron is a sixth-grader at Sego Lilly School where he maintains a 3.7 GPA. His favorite school classes are science, reading, and physical education. School responsibilities he has performed include being eight Scouts in the Pedros Patrol. Pa-trol. A Life Scout, Joey plans to earn his Eagle Scout rank prior to the Jamboree. As a ninth-grader at American Ameri-can Fork Junior High School, Joey maintained a 3.5 GPA. His favorite school classes are physical education ceramics, and science. In Scouting, Joey was a Cub Scout for three years, a Boy Scout for three years, and a Varsity Scout for a year. Special Scouting awards received include the Arrow of Light Award and Faith in God Award. Joey is now Senior Patrol Leader of his home scout troop. As a Boy Scout, Joey has 35 nights of scout camping and an additional seven nights camping camp-ing other than with the Scouts. Smith vorite school classes are physical physi-cal education, keyboarding, and wood shop. In Scouting, Riley was a Cub Scout for three years and has been a Boy Scout for three years. He has received the Arrow Ar-row of Light Award and Faith in God Award. Scout leadership responsibilities responsi-bilities held since becoming a Cub Scout include denner, patrol leader in the 11-year-old Scouts, assistant senior patrol leader, and now senior patrol leader of his home troop. He likes to participate in basketball, swimming and skating. Skinner tained a 3.7 GPA. His favorite school classes are jazz band and chemistry. He has received the Kiwanis Hope of American award, seventh-grade Neighborhood Hero Award, and is the section sec-tion leader for the sax section in the Lone Peak High School concert band. In Scouting, Jared was a Cub Scout for three years, a Boy Scout for three years, and a Varsity Scout for two years. Special Scouting awards received include the Arrow of Light Award, Faith in God Award, and On My Honor Award. Scout leadership responsibilities responsi-bilities held since becoming a Cub Scout include denner, scribe, quartermaster, senior patrol leader, and Varsity Allen historian in his home scout troop. He is a seventh-grader at Oak Canyon Junior High School and maintains a 3.6 GPA. His favorite school classes are: science, English, Technology Life Concerns, and math. He was a member of the ballroom dance team in fourth, fifth and sixth grade and is a member of the seventh-grade esteem team and band. Taylor was a Cub Scout for three years, and has been a Boy Scout for three years. As a Boy Scout, Taylor has over 2 1 nights of scout a part of the accelerated learning class, hall monitor in fifth grade; department sheriff and commissioner in the sixth grade. In Scouting, Cameron was a Cub Scout for three years and has been a Boy Scout for almost a year. Special Scouting awards received include the Cub Scout Arrow of Light and Faith in God Awards. Leadership positions in Scouting Cameron have had include assistant denner and denner in Cub Scouts, and instructor in the 11-year-old Scouts. As a Boy Scout, Cameron has more than 10 nights of scout camping and an additional two nights camping other than with the Scouts. To earn the necessary $1,500 to attend the Jamboree, Cameron '4 -J I Active in the LDS Church, Joey served as president of his Deacons Quorum and secretary secre-tary of his Teachers Quorum. He now is Teachers Quorum President. He likes to participate in are football and scxcer. Scout Captain of his home scout unit. His likes to play basketball, football, and soccer. Jared plays the piano, alto sax, bass clarinet, and is first chair in the B-flat clarinet in the high school band. camping and an additional 11 nights camping other than with the Scouts. participated in a variety of fund-raising activities, including selling custom-made pens, selling pie dough, doing janitorial work and mowing lawns.
