At tfie time, some residents and m-ihlxTs "I the salon said i h'- shiop should lie classified u n s"xualtv oriented business and tried to get it shut down. The City Qjuncil in Sandy even enlisted the help of Utah's porn czar to t ighten its business ordinances. ordi-nances. There was a lot of protesting protest-ing and stuff there," Vrmvt said. "But in the end, it all worked out good We gained more friends than enemies, so to speak." Prince said people in Sandy didn't understand at first what trie business was all about. "We're just a hair salon," she said. "It's just a uniform." But Orem Mayor Jerry Washburn Wash-burn said Bikini Cuts is "not the type of business the city would encourage or hope for." "If they comply with the law and the ordinances, we recog nize that they have rights," he said. "We will monitor them very closely to make sure they do comply with aD the ordinances ordinanc-es and the law." Washburn said he thinks some Orem residents will "react very unfavorably" if the salon locates in the city. "I think that for the most part they would not view this as being be-ing the type of business they would like to see in Orem," he said. "We're a very family-oriented city with high values." If residents do get upset, it may help Bikini Cuts more than hurt it. Prince said the initial controversy in Sandy gave the salon a lot of publicity, which she thinks helped the business. She said it took three or four months of upset for people to "come around." The bikinis are secondary to the haircuts, she said. "It gets them in the door," she said. "But if there's bad service, people wont come back." She said the salon targets a market that no one has really gone after before. "There are tons of awesome day spas and salons for women to go to," she said. "But where do guys go?" iv ." X DOLLARS - DOLLARS Looking for a close convenient place to turn your scrap into cash.
