ASSAULT - At about 9:30 AM Saturday morn- ; ing there was a report of a drunk driver and intoxi- -cated passengers who had been at the Maverick Station at 145 W. 800 N. urinating on the building. Officers were in the area and were flagged down by a passer-by who said there was a disturbance at about 275 E. 800 N. What the officers found when they arrived was that the two adult Polynesian passengers in the car they were seeking had wanted to fight, so they decided to stand in traffic at 800 N. and goad passing motorists into a fight. They played chicken chick-en with oncoming cars and taunted drivers with gestures and threats. Getting no takers, they targeted a 42-year-old Orem man riding his bicy cle along 800 North. One of the suspects, a 20-year-old man, of West Valley, clothes-lined the bicyclist, knocking him off the bike, and proceeded to punch the victim while he laid on the ground. The other man was joined by the other Polynesian man, a 22-year-old man, of Provo, who also started to kick and punch the victim, who could do no more than cover his face to protect it. The two suspects were arrested for assault, disorderly dis-orderly conduct, intoxication, intoxica-tion, and lewdness (for urinating on the Maverick building). One man is currently on felony probation proba-tion for aggravated assault and was booked into the Utah County Jail. The other man- was booked into the Orem holding facility and later bailed. DOG BITE - A woman complained to officers Saturday morning about a postal carrier who injured her dog with a pepper spray when the dog went after the carrier delivering deliver-ing her mail. The dog's Jeyes were now redand puffy from the pepper : spray. The woman wanted jto know if the mail man ?was allowed to do that. The officer assured her that given the choice of either standing there and taking the bite or using pepper spray to ward off an attacking animal, rational thinking mail carriers would reach for ; the pepper spray every time. Surely there's nothing noth-ing mentioned in a mail carrier's job description about letting dogs gnaw on your leg while delivering deliver-ing the mail. The officer did warn the woman that not keeping her dog under control is a crime. In a separate incident (on Friday), a mail carrier was bitten on the back of the leg by a dog while delivering mail in the area of 1700 N. Main Street. The bite broke the skin and the carrier was treated at the hospital. It appears that mail carriers have now gone to Def Con ARMED ROBBERY -There was a robbery at the Maverick Store at 145 W. 8d0 N. early this (Monday) morning. At approximately 1:00 AM a male Hispanic, 5'10", 220 lbs, wearing a bulky parka and Raiders stocking stock-ing cap, entered the store after all other customers had left and pulled a knife on the clerk and demanded demand-ed money. The robber made off with an undisclosed undis-closed amount of cash and ran east bound, from the store. Officers were summoned sum-moned unable to locate the suspect. 72704 A 30-year-old man, of Provo, was arrested this morning at about 4:40 AM after a home owner in the area of 500 E. 2000 S. reported to police that The man was inside her husband's truck parked outside the home. The man was arrested for auto burglary and booked into the Orem holding facility.
