( GEORGE BENSON George Benson earns Eagle George Tafl Benson, 13, will be honored at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony on September 27. To earn Scouting's highest award, George had to earn 21 merit badges, Kerve as a leader in his troop and complete a major community service project. proj-ect. George's service project took place at Hope Campground, near Provo. Leading 24 Scouts and adult volunteers, George cut and cleared dense vegetation vegeta-tion that presented fire danger to the only access road to the campground. The project took 190 total hours to complete. George is an eighth grader and a straight-A student at Canyon View Junior High School. He is the son of Brian and Diane Benson. NXK j. .. SAMMY BENSON Council okays The Orem City Council approved consent items on Tuesday night's agenda that set six upcoming public hearings hear-ings and cancelled the October 1, 2002, council meeting. Six future public hearings were scheduled for October 22, 2002, in the City Council Chambers of the City Center. At 6:15 p.m., the council will consider the Forest Lane Rezone, a proposal to rezone property at 1557 North 950 West from the low density R8 to the infill R5 zone. Also set for 5:15 p.m. is the Johnson's Acre Rezone, 286 West 1200 North, from R8 to R5IO. Two additional hearings were scheduled for 6:30 p.m.: discussion of the McKnight General Plan Amendment (GPA), a proposal to change property at 395 East 900 South from high density residential to community commercial, and the Gold's Gym General Plan Amndment and Rezone, 15 East 700 North, from medium density residential to community commu-nity commercial and from R8 to C2 zone. Sammy Benson earns 20 Webelos Activity Badges Samuel Brian Benson, an 11-year-old Cub Scout, has earned all 20 Webelos Activity Badges. To earn all the Webelos badges, Sammy had to learn about various types of skills and careers from computers to wood carving.
