Camp Invention to be held at UVSCThanksgiving Point Utah Valley State College and Thanksgiving Point will host Camp Invention, a national, summer, sum-mer, day camp that encourages children to develop devel-op their innate creative abilities. Camp Invention will ! held at UVSC-Explore Curriculum- during dur-ing the week of June 11-15, 2002, and at Thanksgiving Point - Create Curriculum-during the week of July 15-19, 2002 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. This phenomenal program is for children chil-dren entering second through sixth grade in the 2002-03 school year. Registration is limited and is going on now by calling 1-800-968-4332. Camps are filling up fast; early enrollment is strongly encouraged. Camp Invention is designed to promote creative cre-ative learning by providing children with hands-on, hands-on, interactive activities that encourage creative solutions. Camp Invention was started in 1990 at. two Ohio schools by the National Invention Hall of fame in Akron, Ohio, a nationally recognized rec-ognized non-profit center for creativity. In 1999 Camp Invention became a joint project with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Camp Invention was introduced to Utah in 1999-2000. This summer, 13 Utah schools, . museums and recreation centers will be among over 425 camps in 35 states nationwide nation-wide to host Camp Invention for 32,5000 campers. A resident of Orem, Tanise Chung-Hoon is the Assistant Dean for Development for the UVSC School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. Chung-Hoon, also the Camp Director, said, "I am extremely pleased to have Camp Invention offered at UVSC in conjunction with our Art Smart - Kids Program." She goes on to say, "We believe a fundamental component of every student's education should include activities that inspire creativity, imagination, and critical thinking. Camp Invention includes all three activities, and we are excited to have this exceptional opportunity at UVSC for elementary elemen-tary school students in our area." The $185 camp tuition fee includes snacks and a T-shirt. After May 31, 2002, tuition increases to $195. A 10 percent discount is offered for sibling or multiple weeks of camp.
