Show Orem-Geneva Times Wednesday, February 24, 1993 Page 11 1993 Buick Regal has significant changes Some of the most significant changes in Buck's 1993 model lineup are in the mid-size Regal. All Regals have an improved powertrain. The 3800 V-6 engine with tuned port injection, standard on Gran Sport coupe and sedan and optional on all other Regals, has been enhanced for quieter, more responsive performance and provides a one-mile-per-gallon improvement im-provement in projected EPA city fuel-economy ratings. In addition, all Regals - those with the standard 3.1-liter V-6 and 3800 - are newly equipped with the Hydra-matic 4T60-E electronically electroni-cally controlled automatic transmission. trans-mission. This is the same transmission transmis-sion that has won highly favorable reviews for smoothness and responsiveness on Buick luxury models. Regal sedans have a more sculptured front appearance with the hood integrated with the new grille and headlamps. The tail-lamps tail-lamps and bumpers also have subtle sub-tle changes to provide more of a family resemblance to the large Le-Sabre Le-Sabre and Park Avenue. All Regals coupes and sedans are equipped with new front seats - the first of Brock's next generation genera-tion of seating - that are orthopedi-cally orthopedi-cally contoured to provide comfort and support for almost any driver. The new seats, designed with the aid of computers, have been contoured con-toured to be comfortable for a wide range of drivers, short or tall, male or female. The nose of the seat cushion has been rounded to relieve pressure pres-sure on the backs of the legs of shorter drivers, while the backrest has been reshaped to provide better bet-ter support for the lower back without throwing the shoulders forward. A new four-way manual seat adjuster is standard in Limited and Gran Sport models. Seat fabrics for Custom and Limited have also been upgraded, giving each a more luxurious feel. Analog gauges are now stand ard on all Regals. A convenience net, which helps secure grocery bap and small packages in the trunk, is available. Regals now have standard 15-inch 15-inch wheels, up from 14 inches last year, improving the stance of the car and providing a smoother ride. For the enhanced 3800 V-6, torque is increased by 5 lb-ft to 225 at 3200 rpm while horse- ?ower remains 170 at 4800 rpm. rojected EPA fuel economy is 19 miles per gallon in the city (a one-, one-, mile-per-gallon improvement) and 28 on the highway. For the 3.1 V-6, projected fuel economy is 19 city and 29 highway, i Significant improvements on ' the enhanced 3800 V-6 include a new intake manifold of recyclable composite material, a higher compression com-pression ratio for improved torque, and roller rocker arm pivots for reduced friction. Most noticeable from the outside out-side are new intake and exhaust manifolds. The intake manifold, injection molded from Du Pont Xytel glass-reinforced nylon, is lighter than the aluminum part it replaces, and helps isolate the fuel system from engine compartment compart-ment heat. Like aluminum, the reinforced nylon can be easily recycled. Exhaust manifolds are now a two-piece clamshell design, which offers an improved exhaust gas flow for better performance. Inside the enhanced 3800, roller pivots on the pushrod end of the rockers further reduce friction fric-tion for improved efficiency. The compression ratio has also been increased from 8.5:1 to 9.0:1 this year. Along with improvements in torque and fuel economy with the optional 3800 V-6, exhaust emissions emis-sions of the Regal have been further fur-ther reduced. To cut emissions following a cold start, the catalytic converter has been moved closer to the engine, allow-ingit allow-ingit to reach operating tempera- UVCC presents special dinner theater of "Little Shop of Horrors" Utah Valley Community College's theatre department will host a special dinner presentation presenta-tion of "Little Shop of Horrors" on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m. Regular performances will run Feb. 26 through March 6 (excluding (exclud-ing Sundays) at 7:30 p.m. in the UVCC Ballroom. Although the popular musical was written by the Howard Ash-mand Ash-mand and Alan Menken (the creator of "Little Mermaid," "Beauty and Beast" and "Aladdin") "Alad-din") the play is not anything like most of their other well-known works. Instead, "Little Shop of Horrors" satirizes many things such as science fiction, musical comedy itself, and even the Faust legend (a German legend of a magician who enters into a compact com-pact with the devil). The story follows Seymour, an insecure, naive, well-meaning florist's clerk, who buys a very unusual plant (named Audrey II) that changes not only his life, but the lives of all those around him. "Little Shop of Horrors" is directed by Susan Whitenight, a faculty member of the theatre1 department at UVCC. Marty Morgan, director of UVCCs Ambassador Am-bassador Show Choir (ENCORE), is the choreographer for the performance. per-formance. Tickets for the dinner theatre on Thursday, Feb. 25 will be $8 for students with UVCC ID and $12 for general admission. Tickets Tick-ets for this presentation must be bought in advance. Tickets for regular performances will be $2 for students with UVCC ID and $5 for general admission. Tickets are available at the Student Center Desk. California-bound Regals with the 3800 are now equipped with an advanced computer-controlled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, helping them meet that state's tighter standards for oxides of nitrogen. The standard analog instrument instru-ment cluster includes a tachometer. Gran Sport models have a low-oil sensor. The coupe also has a new door panel incorporating incor-porating a more convenient location loca-tion for the optional power window win-dow and standard lock switches. A new steering wheel available avail-able for the Gran Sport and Limited combines a leather-wrapped leather-wrapped rim with hub-mounted remote radio controls. The optional remote keyless entry now turns on all interior lights as the driver approaches and unlocks the car. The Regal continues to offer the safety and security of anti-lock anti-lock brakes, which are standard on Limited and Gran Sport, and optional on Custom. Geneva announces more price increases VINEYARD - Geneva Steel has announced a price increase of $20 per ton on all hot-rolled coil products effective April 4, 1993. These increases are in addition to increases announced on January 13, 1993. The Company also will publish new pricing policies for coil products as well as for specific extras, according to spokesman Mitch Haws. The additional price increases reflect improved quality, a strengthening of the domestic market for flat-rolled products, and the effect of the preliminary anti-dumping and countervailing duty margins announced recently by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Com-merce. A $10 per net ton increase in transaction prices for plate products will also become effective effec-tive on April 4, 1993. T Company officials said Geneva will continue to meet competitive prices as market forces for-ces require. Geneva Steel is the only integrated in-tegrated steel mill operating west of the Mississippi River. The Company manufactures hot-rolled hot-rolled steel sheet, plate and pipe for sale primarily in the western and central United States. 9 BENNER BROTHERS WINTER SPECIAL Call: 226 0695 30 Off All Blind Cleaning (delivery too!) 30 Off All Storm Window Cleaning. 25 Off All Mineral Stains & Glass Guard. 20 Off All Regular Window Cleaning.
