It was not an easy win lor the T- Rirrla Knf they did what was necessary to come out on top. Bruin Jake Pella received the opening kickoff and returned it to the 25 and after a 4-yard carry by Dan Bird. Quarterback David Hawkins completed a 23-yard pass to Troy Lunceford, but the gain was called back after a clip. After a first down gain by Rob Nelson the offense stalled and were forced to punt. Chris Mortensen's punt landed on the T-Bird28. A shifty little back named Aaron Morris went to work against the Bruin defense. Morris COUld not be Btonner craim'nor ins yards in the first half. The Bruins and T-Birds exchanged ex-changed possessions and Timpview Timp-view took over on the Mountain View's 28 after a short punt. Morris scored the touchdown from eight yards out The PAT was not good, but Timpview had the lead 6-0. Mountain View took over on their 20-yard line and with short gains on the ground Hawkins pass was deflected which resulted in an interception, but on the next Timpview possession Bruin Rich Wright recovered a fumble. On the next Bruin series a roughing the passer kept the drive going. After carries by Robb Nelson and Mike Whimpey the Bruins were called with a holding penalty. Nelson had a 13-yard gain on the next play, but it was short of the first down. Chris Henderson attempted a 46-yard field goal, but it was wide. Timpview took over on the 20-yard 20-yard line and two outstanding defensive plays probably saved the T-Birds from scoring. Danny Davis sacked quarterback Matt Bateman for a 12-yard lose and Jake Pella had a jarring tackle forcing the ball from the receiver that would have put the T-Birds on the Bruin 23. Two plays later Reinwand ran over for the score and the Thunderbirds had a 12-7 lead. With just over nine minutes left in the fourth quarter the Bruins went to work on their 20-yard line after a missed T-Bird field goal. . The Bruin offensive line opened up holes for Tobb Nelson and Mike Whimpey Whim-pey driving down to the T Bird 8-yard line with a first down. After a keeper keep-er by Hawkins Haw-kins and runs by Nelson, the ball was on the 3-yard line. On 4th down, Robb Nelson went to his left side of the line where the T-Birds were stacked. The Bruins blocking assignments were outnumbered and Nelson was stopped one yard short for 1 1 i i ... me go-aneaa ana possible winning win-ning score. The T-Birds took over on the one and groun d out the ball after a Reinwand 53 yard run. Coach Steve Parks said, "The offense played well but just couldn't put the ball in the end zone." Linemen playing well on offense of-fense were Danny Davis and John Barksdale. The defense, according to Danny Davis always plays well on defense and offense. Hunting in Red Butte Canyon allowed "One hundred fifty hunters will be allowed in the Red Butte Research Natural Area to hunt deer this season. The hunt is used as a management manage-ment tool in an effort to maintain the near natural condition of the area," says Michael Sieg, Salt Lake District Ranger. The Salt Lake Ranger District, Dis-trict, Wasatch-Cache National Forest, will be allowing motorized access, on a limited basis, into Red Butte Canyon for the purpose of deer hunting during the general season. The hunt will be from October 20-30, 1990. Although an unrestricted un-restricted number of hunters have been allowed to walk into Red Butte in previous years, last year was the first time motorized vehicles had been allowed in the Canyon. Only hunters whose names are drawn will be allowed to enter Red Butte. Hunters must follow additional restrictions in order to protect the resources and research re-search equipment in the area. The Forest Service will allow vehicles on the main canyon road only. Non-motorized vehicles, such as deer carts or wagons, will be allowed to transport harvested game to the main road. Camping, horses, and fires will not be allowed. If bad weather occurs, the gate will be closed and locked for resource protection and public safety. The drawing for the permits will be October 10. Those applicants ap-plicants whose names are drawn will receive their permit by mail. Application deadline was Oct. 9. There were 500 applications available on a first-come basis.
