Show Zions names Thone Hepler new region bank manager A veteran of 15 years with Zions Bank, Thone K. Heppler, has been named region manager for the bank's Utah Valley North Region, which includes Zions' Provo, Orem and University offices. J. Ross Nielsen is region manager for Zions' Utah Valley South Region. The announcement an-nouncement was made by Ronald S. Hanson, bank president. Mr. Heppler is also branch manager of the Provo Region office and prior to that was branch manager for the bank's University office. With 66 branches, Zions is one of Utah's largest banks and has recently expanded into Nevada and Arizona. The Richfield, Utah,, native received a business management degree from Brigham Young University and is also a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School, .Seattle. Active in civic affairs, the bank executive is a member of the Provo Kiwanis Club, past president of the Provo Area Chamber of Commerce and is currently serving on the board of directors for the Association of Involved In-volved Merchants. He is also a member mem-ber of the Utah County Appointments Board and the Utah County Banker's Association. CLYDE R. MORRELL BYU names assistant VP Clyde R. Morrell, Orem, treasurer for the past year at Brigham Young University, has been appointed assistant assis-tant administrative vice president for finance at BYU. He replaces Lyman Durfee who now oversees the budget. In his new position, Morrell supervises all the university's financial finan-cial affairs including the budget, treasury, accounting and reporting departments. Before being named BYU treasurer Aug. 1, 1986, Morrell was a controller of the American Express Worldwide Travelers' Cheque Center in Salt Lake City for three years. Earlier he served as vice president presi-dent and controller of the Bank of the West in San Francisco, vice president and assistant controller of U.S. Bancorp Ban-corp in Portland and senior staff accountant ac-countant for Deloitte, Haskins & Sells in San Francisco. A 1966 graduate of Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Morrell received a bachelor's degree summa cum laude in 1972 from BYU where he was named the Arthur Andersen Outstanding Accounting Student. He earned a master of accountancy degree from BYU in 1973 and subsequently subse-quently was licensed as a certified public accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Utah Society of CPAs, the National Accounting Association. He has also lectured at Golden State University and is an instructor in-structor at Westminster College. In high school Morrell was yearbook year-book editor, Sterling Scholar in social sciences and named Outstanding Boy in the senior class. He is married to Rose Marie Vavricka, a 1965 graduate of Box Elder High. The Morrells have six children and moved to Orem from Sandy. He served a mission to Austria for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has held numerous leadership positions since then. Workshops planned at Valley Playhouse Special guest artists conducting workshops are planned for drama classes this fall at the Valley Center Playhouse, 780 North 200 East, Lindon. Classes are held for chlildren and young people ages 5 through 17 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m. Visiting artist, Davis Aston, will conduct a workshop on Robotic Mane-quin Mane-quin and Students on Tuesday, Sept. 8. David Aston was lead performer at Pioneer Village at Lagoon in 1975. He has given many demonstrations throughout the valley. He presently is working as a Robotic Manequine and is an accomplished makeup artist. He is also scheduled for a makeup workshop at VCP just before Halloween Hallo-ween on Sept. 22. Elder Ballard was called to be a member of the Council of the Twelve nearly two years ago after serving as a member and later in the presidency presiden-cy of the First Quorum of the Seven-'y. Seven-'y. He has also served as president of the Toronto Mission, as a bishop, as a high councilor and as a missionary to England. A graduate of East High School in Salt Lake City, he attended the University of Utah and later participated par-ticipated in various business enterprises enter-prises including automotive, real estate and investments. He is a member of the Missionary Executive Council and the board of directors of Deseret Book Company. He is married to Barbara Bowen and they have seven children and 22 grandchildren. RUSSELL BALLARD Third quarter tax due soon October 31, 1987, is the date by which employers must report on Form 941 social security and withheld federal income taxes for the third quarter of 1987 and pay any taxes due, the Internal Revenue Service says. If the quarterly liability (less any deposit during the quarter) is $500 or more, the unpaid balance must be deposited. The deadline does not apply to employers who timely deposit in Federal Reserve or approved commercial com-mercial banks the full amount of tax due, the IRS says. They are allowed until November 10 to file Form 941, "Employer's Quarterly Federal Tax Return." Employers who have not received a Form 941 by mail can order or-der one through the IRS tax form number 1-800-424-FORM.
